The custom-built, wood-fired oven that is the heart and soul of Bocconcini is a thing of beauty, churning out perfect pies in a matter of minutes. The man behind the oven, Chef Elvin, is even more impressive, having trained with a master pizzaiola (in Italy) to perfect the art of Neapolitan pizza. His dough is a traditional, fermented style that adds flavor and aroma, ensuring you’ll love the crust as much as you love the farm-fresh toppings.

Amazing pizzas and sandwiches! This visit, we had the special pizza of the day (pictured) which had pancetta &basil and it was amazing! We’ve previously had the caprese sandwich and it’s also delicious! Highly recommend grabbing a glass of wine, ordering some food here, and enjoying the amazing view of Akash Winery!

¡En el camino entre San Diego y Big Bear, paramos a comer aquí y fue muy agradable! No tuvimos que hacer reserva. Degustamos un vino Muscat y comimos una pizza special con ingredientes de temporada y un sándwich de proscciuto, ambos muy ricos. El sabor de la masa era sobresaliente. La zona estaba rodeada de varios restaurantes para hacer degustaciones de vinos, sin embargo eran más grandes, Bocconcini era más íntimo y con una vista muy linda hacia su viñedo, además de ofrecer menú italiano que es de lo que teníamos antojo.

El menú era corto, contaba con tabla para picar, ensaladas, pizzas y sandwiches, de postre una pizza dulce, pero era justo para no tener que demorar en la elección. El restaurante está al aire libre y ordenas en la barra, te dan un aparato que suena cuando tu comida está lista para ir a recoger. Los precios pienso que son promedio y acorde al estilo del lugar. En definitiva hizo que nuestro trayecto a nuestro destino final fuera mucho más agradable.
