Beautiful fine dining experience, the service was outstanding, the food was fresh and full of flavor. And the wine menu!! Wow! The owners have a very impressive cellular and a winery. Sits on the main strip, across from the beach. Eat a great meal then hit up one of the many bars and shops.

Fantastic low-key fine dining experience located directly behind the Beachcomber! Great little restaurant for a nice meal paired with a selection of over 700 wines! Nice atmosphere outside with a impressively small kitchen located near the entrance when you walk in. The food here is simply to die for and the presentation is very nice as well. Highly recommend stopping by here if you are out for a nice little dinner date.

What a walk down memory lane this is!!! We haven’t been to Bobby’s Bistro, or its more upscale sister restaurant the Beachcomber in years. Twenty years ago, these two restaurants were the absolute “It” place, the best in Tampa.
Amazingly, the decor is exactly the same as 20 years ago but somehow doesn’t look dated at all. The food was fantastic. We met George, our server, who is a bit of a celebrity, and he was super nice and gave me a supersized shot! Glad to give this notable establishment a great review!

A Classic
Bobby’s Bistro sits behind its more famous sire, Heilman’s Beachcomber. Heilman’s has been there for generations and was always the habitue of older seniors. When Bobby’s Bistro opened it seemed to have a (slightly) younger vibe. Today there seems to be no difference between Heilman’s and Bobby’s. The menus are exactly the same.
Bobby’s is clean and comfortable and service is professional. Food prices are high-ish. Bar and wine prices are quite reasonable.
This is one of the few places that still have complimentary bread service—much appreciated. I had the scallop appetizer and it was very good. Next was a nice side salad that was included with the entrée. My main dish was their deservedly famous fried chicken. It was a half chicken in 4 pieces with a thin and delicious crust and not greasy. This is the fried chicken that every other restaurant should aspire to. It came with very good (not over-cooked) green beans and perfect mashed potatoes and gravy.
Bobby’s (and Heilman’s) are classics. They might not be modern and flashy and the patrons skew old, but these restaurants know how to do everything right.

Weird experience with this place., maybe it’s really closed? We walked in at 6:15PM on a Friday evening thru the open door from the parking lot and absolutely no one was there. No one to greet us, no bartender and no customers. Totally bizarre since the main entrance door was open. We ended up going to a steak place across the street on Mandalay.

Wife and I went there last night not really impressed. Had the shrimp it was just average. The chowder was good and my wife had pork chop it was average. definitely not a 5 star.Could be it is out of season and the normal chef wasn’t there? great wine list

Our food was very good, except for the fillet mignon. The waiter asked how our food was, my husband said his lobster was great but the steak was tough. The waiter said nothing! This was our first time at this restaurant. Unfortunately, we won’t be back.
