I had a great experience at Bobby Van’s Steakhouse in DC with my family. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt classic and upscale but still welcoming. The service was attentive and professional without being overbearing, which I really appreciated.
My steak was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor—exactly what I expect from a high-quality steakhouse. The sides were generous, well prepared, and complemented the meal nicely. Everything came out hot and beautifully presented.
Overall, Bobby Van’s delivered on food, service, and ambiance. It’s a solid choice for a special night out or a business dinner, and I would absolutely go back.

This is a premier steak restaurant and they delivered a premier meal and service.
We had a table of nine and were given a private room to the side. This was very nice as we were able to talk and discuss amongst each other without interfering with others or competing with the volume of the other tables. Much appreciated!
The Bone-In Ribeye was extremely delicious! The Mashed Potatoes and Creamed Spinach were also very good.
We shared a few of the Bang Bang Shrimp as an appetizer for the table (didn’t get a pic of these). These were very good!
The Chocolate Mousse pie and the Cheesecake were a nice way to end the meal.
We enjoyed Weller’s Special Reserve and Pinot Noirs. Great drinks selections.

We headed to Bobby vans on a Saturday – we had a reservation but it wasn’t super busy. The food was good the atmosphere and service were not as great. The bourbon selection is very solid. Bang bang shrimp was a highlight, calamari not as good. The filet was great – good flavor and solid cut. Mac and cheese was delicious and the mashed potatoes were solid. It was good to checkout a place that has been in DC for a while.

Today was my first time here and expectations were high for a steakhouse. The NY Strip was good but not great for the price. Service was OK along with the atmosphere.

The staff at Bobby Vans are some of the most friendly and accommodating in DC. They know the menu, work together, they’re friendly, and you feel at home.
The food was ok. I like big bites of flavor and that didn’t come through. That doesn’t mean bad, it just isn’t for me. Everything was there and most people would enjoy it. I like over the top bursting in your mouth which most people don’t like.
The French onion soup is a sweet one vs salty and savory which was perfect. The linguini with clams is loaded with clam meat, but the Brussels sprouts were the show stopper for me. They are baked vs fried and covered in cheese and prosciutto. The Brussels sprouts are awesome. My friend enjoyed his sea bass but said it was a bit dry. He didn’t mind because he likes meat over cooked.
Go for the quilt Cabernet as well, the other is bad. Quilt has the quality and taste you’d expect at a steak house. The other one is what you get at an all inclusive hotel where there is literally nothing else.
One big bonus, a lot of dc steakhouses started charging for bread, it’s included here. Was a nice surprise.

Loved the place, food was fantastic and service was great as well. Definitely a great place for a date. The deserts are not the best but everything else is good.
The steak was perfect for medium rare, nice sear on the outside and a rare but warm pink center and the pork chop was equally good.
The only turn off was the waiter asking for more than the 20% already added to the check

Food was so delicious. Please get their calamari! Get their steaks! Get their GARLIC MASH! Get their Mac & Cheese. Just get everything it was so good. I’m in my late 20s and was lucky to get a reservation here for Valentines Day & I’m so grateful. 10/10. I wish I took my pictures, BUT I was hungry lol.

The only thing my family and I liked about the food here was the steak (flavourful, even if slightly overdone, and still very tender) from the Steak and Cake that I ordered. The Crab Cake was fishy and quite ordinary (for the price), Fish and Chips that mum ordered is good (the chips were spectacular; fish was generous but batter too thick). But the one that we really didn’t like was the French onion soup – overly salty with the huge chunk of cheese, should maybe have some vol au vent pastry to temper the salt. Also ordered a plate of asparagus to share and that was good, but again for that price, I expected better.
Atmosphere seems really nice. But then in came a group of very rowdy gentlemen and the whole dinner we were just battling to have ourselves heard over their noise.
The staff were friendly and attentive (especially the male staff – super friendly).

We weren’t greeted by the manager, head maitre’d & some staff until our birthday party was departing restaurant. There was one waiter serving our party of 25 people. Is this a normal practice? The waiter Mario did a phenomenal job getting drink orders, putting kids menu orders in & bringing us bread & butter until the maitre’d servers started assisting him. Some entrees were cooked to order while other dishes were overcooked, not enough portion size on kid’s menu mini burgers & fries. The Bang Bang Shrimp sauce tastes awful. My son’s ribeye wasn’t cooked to order specifications & the second steak was smaller cut when presented to him. My granddaughter’s chicken nuggets were overcooked & tasted like burnt oil. The 2 chicken nuggets & baskets of fries: chicken nuggets taste delicious, but the fries had too much salt on them. The lemonade didn’t taste freshly made more like country time lemonade. I watched other maitre’d cut through to access the bar even though there was a walkway right adjacent to our private room. The private room was stuffy & should have the fan on prior to our party arrival. I didn’t understand why some orders arrived at 8:35 pm. My twin grandsons enjoyed their chicken parmesan & pasta. The Asian pear salad, crab cakes & fried calamari were delicious. My mom enjoyed the Houston glazed salmon with basmati rice & sauteed broccolini.
