The food hits just right! I would say the flavour is more Asian fusion but the execution is impeccable The house iced tea was wonderfully refreshing and not too sweet – just how I like it 🙂 the Muc Chien (squid calamari style) was tender with a light crispy batter and a phenomenal tamarind sauce made in house! The Tom Yam Khung was hearty and a good side portion but was on the sweeter side! The biggest VIP was the chilli sauce/ sambal on the table – it was absolutely delish with a medium heat and slightly salty, perfect for adding to food! Biggest thank you to my server Gabriel was welcoming from the door and was swift and attentive – his smile throughout the service made me the whole experience enjoyable as a solo diner thank youuuu

We had a great evening at Boa-Bao. Sitting right in front of the open kitchen was a really nice experience and fun to watch.

The service was super friendly and attentive. The alcohol-free drinks they recommended were delicious, and the food was amazing — honestly the best bao buns I’ve ever had.

Highly recommended. We’d definitely come back!

Loved Boa Bao Lisbon! Such a fun, lively spot with incredible travel-themed decor and great energy from all the staff. Our waiter Nixon was AMAZING, super sweet, friendly, and so helpful with drink and food recommendations. He made the whole experience even better. There were tons of options to choose from too! Everything was delicious and the vibe was on point. Would 100% go back!

We moved to Lisbon just a month ago and stumbled upon this absolute gem in Chiado. BOA-BAO is an immediate favorite, offering an unforgettable dining experience.
The atmosphere and ambiance perfectly blend comfort and novelty. The brick barrel ceiling, tropical wall treatments, dark woods, and moody lighting create a sophisticated yet inviting “Film Noire” vibe. The place was buzzing with happy energy, and we felt right at home.
The food and cocktails were stellar—perfectly balanced, tasty, and well-executed. We started with a refreshing and light “Tuk-Tuk Tonic” (gin, green apple, cucumber). We also had a fantastic, balanced, and successful redesign of a spicy margarita (I wish I remembered the name!).
The baos themselves are remarkable. The buns are soft, steamed, hot, and the perfect medium for the fillings:
Eggplant Bao (vegan): Truly the best eggplant dish I’ve ever had. Crispy, meaty, and bursting with flavor.
Traditional Pork Belly Bao: As good as it gets—rich, unctuous pork with hoisin and crisp veg.
Crispy Chicken Bao: Crispy and tender with a bright vinegar profile that wakes up the palate.
The staff truly made the visit memorable. Our server, Gonçalo, was the best part! He happily and professionally guided us through the menu, helping us choose the perfect baos and cocktails. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and friendly. Ana, the manager, was hands-on and assured that every table had a perfect and memorable experience.
This is a must-visit restaurant, whether you’re looking for a cocktail, a light meal, or a full feast. There are many food options, but we only wanted baos this time. We will definitely be back for more!

We decided to visit after reading a vlog from a Korean traveler. We were craving Asian food, and this place offers several options rather than sticking to just one cuisine. We tried the Thai and Indonesian dishes, and everything was very tasty. Personally, it was the most authentic Nasi Goreng I’ve had since my time in Indonesia, a real Ratatouille moment. The price and portion sizes were just right. One small detail: Nasi Goreng is typically eaten with a spoon, not with chopsticks.

When I come back to Portugal I visit Boa-Bao if I can. I always have a superb food and service experience. The concept is solid, and the menu is varied and super wide-appealing, plus they tend to change the menu from time to time so there’ll almost always be stuff you haven’t tried. There are the classics, best-sellers, and then something new. This time I simply could not stand in the way for the black bao-bun with crunchy seabass (depicted)- so I ordered it twice. The portion may not be that big and be advised, it can get pricy, especially if you add drinks from the passport. Apart from the seabass bao I got the vietnamese Gỏi Cuốn which always works and the most freshest spring rolls you can find!

It was an amazing experience! The vegan dumplings were the best I’ve ever tasted. We ordered a 2nd round of it! We also had the japchae & Pad Thai noodles. Both very good! Nixon served us very pleasantly and patiently explaining all our options! I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Lisbon.

Great Asian restaurant offering a little bit of everything Asian – dumplings / sushi / Korean bbq / samosas / Thai curries. We were here in December when it was cold – they had heaters and blankets for outdoor seating – that made for a comfortable outdoor dining experience! Service as good, food was great.

Have been here twice with quite some time in between but honestly not sure why I came back when the first time really wasn’t a success.

Second time wasn’t good either.

The food doesn’t have the right taste profile. Too sweet, too saucy, dim sum probably from frozen like most asian restaurants.

The atmosphere and the branding are nice but it definitely does not translate to the palate unfortunately.

To be avoided. I don’t like to be this harsh in a Google review, and it’s fine if it doesn’t taste authentic but it just wasn’t even good.
