We made a quick trip to Iowa City on March 20, 2015. Bo James was a favorite when we were in school and the food was excellent. It was spring break at UI so it was not busy (one other customer in the whole place). Our server was great and the food came out piping hot. We had burger baskets and the grilled cheese with fried egg. Delicious!

Atmosphere was great and workers were very friendly and accommodating. I got the Bo James Platter and the Vegetarian Burger with the house salad. The appetizer platter was 50/50. Items like the fried green beans and pickles were amazing while the nachos and potato skins were very dry. The burger was very dry and I could not finish it. The food is a hit or miss but the environment and vibes make up for the misses. Overall enjoyed the time spent here and will be coming back when it’s warmer to sit outdoors.

Servers were great and food was good but the women owner was a nightmare. Kicking PAYING customers out and families that still had food and drinks on the table just because “we’ve been there too long”. We all went there to watch the Iowa game and was there for an hour and a half TOPS. They asked us to move to a smaller table after half our group left which we gracefully did and then after we sat down and ordered more drinks she told us “you guys need to leave, you’ve been here too long”. We were baffled and absolutely pissed. We ended up leaving with half full beers and a terrible experience. I feel more bad because the servers kept coming up to us and apologizing for her behavior. Hope they find new jobs and managers that treat them right.

Food was average. The macho nacho was a large stuck together clump of garbage. Why they put so much Lettuce on it is beyond me. It’s Nachos, not a taco salad! Our table lamp above us didn’t have a bulb. It was hard to see the menu without our phone flashlights. Upon request they did switch our table.

Walking distance from UofI campus. Sat outside during Chalk Art Festival- very nice. Pet and family friendly. Chicken tender salad was good, and italian beef sandwich was excellent. Great service and nice atmosphere.

Stay away!! Owner kicked us out because she wanted the table for dinner we dropped $200 plus watching the game during parents weekend and would have dropped more $$$. Oh well will take our $$$ elsewhere

Roaches located near/on food and beverages. We left immediately after seeing that. Very disappointed. Used to be our favorite location. My friends visiting from Chicago are also disappointed by this location.

We haven’t gotten food from here in bit but ordered a “burger special” to go, and chicken tenders with their cheese-y fries, which used to be awesome but we opened this up when we got home, half an hour away, and nobody would answer the phone when we tried to call about it. Don’t order cheese fries these days unless this is what you want.
