I stopped into Bluewater Grill for lunch and had a really enjoyable experience. The seafood was impressively fresh—exactly what you hope for in a coastal spot—and everything on the plate tasted clean and well-prepared. Their wine selection was surprisingly good for midday dining, with options that paired nicely without feeling too heavy for lunch.What really stood out, though, was the service. Our server was awesome: friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful with recommendations. They struck that perfect balance of being present without hovering, which made the whole meal feel relaxed and easy.Overall, Bluewater Grill is a great choice for a quality lunch by the water. I’d happily come back to try more of the menu.

Our uber driver recommended this place to my wife and I. The drinks were excellent I had the margarita with serrano peppers and my wife had the cucumber mojito, both were great! We had the steamed clams and mussels and the New England clam chowder. I loved the chowder a must order! For lunch we had the blackened swordfish and the cod. Both were very good! The key line pie was sooooo good!! Definitely recommend this place!

We came here 3 years ago and loved it, so we came back. We were a little disappointed this time. The clam chowder was good but the shrimp and scallops with pesto cream sauce, not so much… 2 small scallops and 4 shrimp. Not worth the price.

Looks like they had my review removed again. We are her for my sons bday because he wanted mussels. Well…before we get to that. The Cesar salad was watery but life goes on. The staff were ok. Not the friendliest per se but ok. Anyways our kid got food poisoning from the dish and was barfing all night long. He only ate the clams and mussels dish. Which he’s had countless times at other places. Here he ate 6 and stopped and at 230am we got to deal with it.

Upscale Seafood Restaurant in the Heart of Carlsbad Village. Lovely outdoor patio (2) one in front and one in back. Great service. Food is good—little ⬆️ $$$. $50 for Lunch (incl tax & tip) is a bit steep.
New England Clam Chowder was creamy and delicious. The bread and butter they serve is excellent. I mistakenly ordered the Crab BLTA. I don’t recommend it. Crab meat was very fresh, yet flavorless and just didn’t go well in a sandwich. Would’ve been much better on the side with some drawn butter or a nice aioli. Fries were crisp and plentiful. Ranch dressing is yummy. Ginger Beer was good quality.
Would like to return to try Happy Hour offerings and other menu items. UPDATED: 8/11/25 made it to HH and got the Baked Crab & Artichoke Dip—WOW—So Good. And the Firecracker Shrimp Lettuce Cups was amazing and plentiful. Although the Lettuce is a bit odd (but the shrimp-Wow)! Check out the photos! I also got the Napa Gin Tonic Cocktail—very good and very refreshing.
Inside dining is very nice as are the restrooms. Parking can be tough…there’s a Free public parking right beside as well as street parking and other lots. Beware if you’re sitting on the front patio as the trains are incredibly loud with the crossing only a few feet away.
Definitely recommend this place.

We’ve been here before had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately this time was different. Service and Atmosphere was great. Ordered the NY medium rare it came out medium-medium well. They took a butterfly half of the NY and served that. It was thin, usually they are a thick steak. I was thinking for 45 bucks it should be thick.Had the Manhattan clamp chowder, which was delicious. Best dinner of our entire trip! Oysters were fresh and delicious. Our kids loved their food especially when presented in bento boxes. Their seasonal Bouillabaisse was the best dish of the week! So much flavor and perfect on a cool night. We also had the swordfish which was the best prepared swordfish I have ever had. Great selections of food & wine, great vibes, and wonderful service.

The Bluewater in downtown Carlsbad is excellent. Bluewater has many other branches in the San Diego county.
Be prepared for the parking situation though. The Bluewater has an adjacent parking lot but it was fully occupied because of its vicinity to the beach and other shops. We took 15 min to find a spot in the downtown area.

We’ve been here a few times now when coming to that area, and have NEVER been disappointment with the food and service.
Not only has it been one of the better places that I’ve gone to for seafood, but my kids are obsessed with their bread, little kids trays, and coloring menus.
