Reviews
Let me back up a bit on the review though. I came in around 2pm and never been here before. I ended getting the NY Strip Steak Taco on corn tortilla as an appetizer (because why can’t a taco be an appetizer) and it was phenomenal. It wasn’t shredded or slices of steak, it was a 2-3oz NY strip individually grilled to around a medium. It was nicely grilled with the grill marks as and light charred edges while still remaining juicy and tender. The creamy salsa verde it was served with was super refreshing and not all that spicy.
For my main I got the Grilles Fish Platter. This bad boy had 4oz mahi mahi, 4oz salmon, 2 giant prawns, and 2 scallops (I estimate the size of the scallops as 20/30s). For the sides I got the cous cous and grilled corn. All of the seafood was perfectly grilled with beautiful grilled marks and cooked just right, not over not under, just right. You get a choice of what kind of sauce and I was a little overwhelmed with all of the options so the gentleman behind the counter recommended the Cajun garlic butter; it, was, beautiful. Slight hint of black pepper heat with a ton of beautiful spice flavor that, to me, mimicked what you would taste if the seafood was blacked but without the bitterness that comes from blackening spice. Would highly recommend.
Overall I’m confused, pleasantly surprised, and intrigued by this place. It’s as if you took the food from an upscale sit down seafood restaurant you’d find in Santa Monica and put it in the shell of a quick-serve counter service spot. If I didn’t know better, the food would EASILY stand up to and I would say surpass 90% of the fancy restaurants without the hassle and attitude of those spots.
What impressed me the most was the execution. My meal had 5 different proteins that have different characteristics and cooking requirements and cook times yet it all came out together perfectly cooked, hot, and delicious.
Maybe their origin story is that they used to work at the fancy upscale restaurants and decided to open something of their own and made their dream come true. Maybe they were just born this good. Whatever it is, keep doing it.
I’m not from around here so sadly won’t be a regular but every time I visit California I’ll make visiting BlueSalt Fish Grill a tradition on par with hitting up In-N-Out. Great job everyone.
We had the chance to try the scallops and shrimp with garlic sauce, black pepper seasoned corns! they were all perfectly cooked—tender, flavorful, and well-seasoned. The fries were crispy and tasty, complementing the seafood beautifully. One of the standout features was their fresh salads, which added a refreshing balance to the meal.
Beyond the food, the service was amazing—attentive, friendly, and efficient, making the experience even more enjoyable. It’s clear that Blue Salt Fish Grill is a local favorite, as we saw many families dining in, creating a warm and welcoming environment.
If you’re looking for a casual yet high-quality seafood spot in Redondo Beach, Blue Salt Fish Grill is definitely worth a visit. Whether you’re dining in with family or grabbing a quick bite, you can count on delicious, fresh seafood and a great experience.
The menu features a diverse selection of seafood dishes, including grilled fish plates, salads, classic seafood recipes, fish tacos, and wraps. There is also a kid’s menu available. You can choose from over sixteen seafood options, such as salmon, swordfish, mahi-mahi, halibut, and giant prawns. These can be grilled over an open flame or fried, and are accompanied by a variety of spices, sauces, and sides like grilled fresh vegetables, zucchini, fries, or rice. A key point for me is that they also offer gluten-free options.
Their sustainably sourced, wild-caught seafood is available at a very affordable price. The location features a friendly staff and a pleasant, clean atmosphere reminiscent of a waterfront restaurant in the Bay Area.
The food is delicious, and the portion sizes are very satisfying. We sampled two menu options: the salmon tacos, featuring corn tortillas, cabbage, cilantro, tomato, red onion, and chipotle dressing, accompanied by black bean salsa and rice pilaf, and the grilled ahi tuna plate, served with french fries and coleslaw. Both dishes were delicious and satisfying, and you have the option to customize them to your liking. Additionally, they offer a nice selection of desserts and beverages.
We will definitely be back!
Every meal I had here feels healthy, fresh, and filling. By the way their current letter grade is an A.. let’s hope it stays that way!!
