I stopped by Bluegrass Tavern while in town for work and left feeling so full! I even ended up with leftovers.
I ordered the meatloaf meal, which came with mashed potatoes and gravy, seasoned green beans, and a cornbread patty. Every bite was absolutely delicious. The portions were generous, the flavors were spot-on, and the price was incredibly affordable.
What truly sets this place apart, though, is Donna, the owner. I had the pleasure of meeting her, and her heart for the community is unmatched. She shared that she offers food for anyone up to age 18 with no questions asked, provides a discount and dessert for first-time patrons, and offers 50% off for seniors. You can genuinely feel that this is a place rooted in kindness, care, and giving back.
Bluegrass Tavern is more than just a restaurant, it’s a wholesome, welcoming space that serves fantastic food while uplifting its community. If you’re anywhere near the area, this spot is a must-visit. I’ll absolutely be back next time I’m in town!
Every visit feels like coming home. The food is truly home-cooked comfort food — the kind that tastes just like sitting at your mom’s kitchen table after a long day. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and made with so much care.
The customer service is top-notch. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and treats you like family from the moment you walk in. Our food came out fast, hot, and perfectly cooked. I had the BLT (crispy bacon, fresh veggies, and so satisfying!), and my husband had the fish — both were absolutely excellent!
What makes this place even more special is the heart behind it. Being family-run, you truly feel like part of their family while you’re there. They’re also such a blessing to our community — providing free meals to the homeless and giving out coats, hats, and gloves to those in need. That kind of kindness and generosity says everything about who they are.
If you’re craving delicious, down-home Appalachian cooking and a place where you feel genuinely cared for, this is it.
Highly recommend everyone stop by — you won’t leave hungry or disappointed! We absolutely love Bluegrass kitchen!

(replying to your comment.) my family was there last saturday , so i was just getting around to do the review. the service was very sub par / borderline grumpy . the burgers if those are fresh i would look into the quality of meat you are using. wife had the BLT and said it was the worst BLT she ever had. . the kids didn’t even finish their meals, we ended up going two doors down and getting something to eat after we left. Also having the silverware stand placed right in the walkway going is not the best choice. I’m not trying to be mean, i am just being honest. it was very sub par from the service to the food. i understand you are taking it personal. but in the two weeks were out on vacation we eat at a lot of places, and this was by far the worst, and it’s not even close.
Was out first time there but we will definitely be back.
