My family just finished a two week trip across the Midsouth. My intentions was to try to different barbecue joints in all three of those states. Those states being Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Bluegrass barbecue was the first place we tried. I liked all six of them pretty well but Bluegrass barbecue was my favorite of all six. Considering the fact that this was the first of the six places we tried over the last two weeks, that says even more because typically people tend to forget what the first of anything is like when trying a lot of others. In my experience, Alabama, as a whole, seems to have the best barbecue outside of South Carolina.

The smell of smoke gets your mouth watering when you walk in the door. The staff were super friendly and the food was amazing. We tried the fried pies for dessert and they did not disappoint! Highly recommend!

Everything was great. We were too full for desert. The owners were friendly and let us know they do delivery. There was an outdoor space to eat as well. The atmosphere was cozy. The inside was clean. We will visit again.

Just passing through town and I stopped by this location this location for some local barbecue. Typical barbecue options like 12 sides, chicken, sausage, ribs and pulled pork. Didn’t see any brisket- but this was not a deal breaker.
I ordered the chicken wings with Buffalo sauce, pulled pork sandwich with sides, and a bananna pudding. The food was ok but nothing to write home about. The sides and service were great though. The server stated that certain menu prices had gone up slightly and the sheet was not updated. Overall we paid a reasonable price for dinner. Even though I was not in love with their style of cooking, I do think 3 stars is a.little too low though.

A little hole in the wall, with a great atmosphere and superb service. However the main attraction, the BBQ, left much to be desired.
I have always used brisket for comparison. I expect juiciness, tenderness, and smokiness. I got one of the three from Bluegrass. My pictured serving had no smokiness to it. In fact, it tasted boiled. Not much taste at all. I had to add sauce to juicy it up.
The house-made sauce is vinegar based, thick, and pretty smooth, even though I am more of a sweet sauce guy.
I had greens and BBQ beans as my sides. The greens were delicious, slightly tart, with just enough pork to flavor it up. The beans tasted like doctored up canned beans with pork, bell peppers, onions and brown sugar.
Overall, a bit disappointing because of the brisket let down.

Wife and visited on 1/29/22 and our waitress, Gail, took our drink orders almost immediately. Service was very good, even though they appeared to be short staffed. I ordered the Trolly Car combo, with smoked ribs (3) and smoked, chopped chicken breast and sides were potato salad, BBQ baked beans and corn bread. I must say I was not impressed with the food presented at all. The ribs were very over cooked, as you can tell in the picture, and covered in so much sauce, the flavor of the pork was buried. While the chicken was very tender, it to was covered in sauce. Both items had a very strong bitter flavor to them…a flavor that comes from a mis-managed fire. There was no clean smoke flavor, but rather that flavor that comes from dirty smoke, from a fire not getting enough oxygen to burn clean. This was confirmed when we left by viewing the brown smoke rising up from the pit. The beans tasted right out of a can with some un-flavored meat tossed in and the corn bread was so cold it felt as though it had literally been taken straight from refrigerator and plated. While the potato salad wasn’t terrible, it wasnt enough to raise this review rating. I have heard many good things about Bluegrass BBQ but unfortunately, I walked away leaving 90% of everything thing ordered on plate. Pricing for this meal was very reasonable, at $ 16.00, for as much food presented. I just wish it was tasty enough to eat.

Friday and Saturday steak night is my all time favorite!!! The steak has always been cooked perfectly. During the week I always get moonshine chicken with either squash casserole, Mac& cheese, fried green tomatoes, greens, or side salad. Sometimes I do a veggie plate cause all the veggies are good
