We have been going to Bluefin for a few years now and I cannot recommend them enough. Their food and service is always top notch. Not a single time have we ever left dissatisfied and we have been MANY times. It is consistently excellent.
That said, it’s the staff who really makes this location shine. They are so kind and accommodating. Merry, the person in pink in the image, has come to know us over our many visits and always spends time chatting with our 4-year-old daughter. On one occasion, we forgot to bring a jacket for her and Merry offered hers up to keep our daughter warm. Literally any time we ask our daughter where she would like to eat, she always says “Bluefin!” without hesitation. Truth be told, that’s also what we hope she’ll say when we ask!
We have tried many items from the menu, but here are a few things that we highly recommend:
– Avocado Bomb
– Tonkatsu Ramen (choose the ‘Red’ variant if you like spice)
– Flaming VIP Roll

I went to Bluefin Sushi & Ramen with some friends, and unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the food. I ordered the Chicken Katsu Bento and the chicken was tough, dry, and simply not pleasant. The portion is large and comes with rice, chicken, edamame, sushi, a small roll, and a few other items, but overall it just wasn’t good. I even took it home so it wouldn’t go to waste, but I couldn’t eat it and ended up throwing it away.
This was my second visit. The first time I tried their ramen, but my family didn’t like it, so I decided to give it another chance and sadly, it still wasn’t for me.
What I do want to highlight is their service. The owner is extremely kind, and the staff is very friendly, which is why I’m giving two stars. However, I don’t think I’ll be returning, and I can’t really recommend it based on my experience.

Isan was great!! One of the cooks served us a house salad that was super yummy, something different, refreshing. The dragon sushi as well as the pan fried dumplings recommend! Thank you guys, we stopped here after the special Olympics event ongoing. And the employees welcomed us in, gave us time, and were so chill which was what we needed after such event!

Bluefin Sushi Bar in Lakeway is absolutely amazing! I really like the variety and the sushi chef’s are amazing, and their creations are spectacular. My favorite is the Chirashi bowl, and each one is slightly different, making it even harder to want to try something different (see the two pictures of Chirashi bowls.) I have been to 5 different Sushi restaurants in the Bee Cave-Lakeway-Steiner area and Bluefin is by far the best. Po has the staff trained very well (as he did when he was at two of the other places.) Compare them with their Omakase Nigiri! Oh, and their lunch Bento box is the best around!! Hard to eat it all!
I like sitting at the sushi bar and watch them work. You can tell that they really enjoy their job!! You don’t see that at other places.

This place is great and right in Lakeway. It’s an improvement over Cho, which was good but the food here is better. I lived in Japan for over a decade and this place comes pretty close.
We ordered the Agedashi Tofu which was outstanding. The best I’ve had here in the states, wish there was some grated daikon in the dipping sauce.
We also ordered Pork and Chicken Kushi. They were both really good but the pork was a bit sparce.
We also had Karaage. It was delicious. Not as juicy as it could have been but delicious nonetheless. I wish they had served it with a lemon wedge and dollop of Cupie mayo like they do in Japan.
We also ordered the Gyoza, pan fried they were good, too.
The atmosphere is light and airy. The wait staff were friendly and attentive.
Overall we really enjoyed the food. Next time we’ll get some sushi or ramen, I’m looking forward to coming back.
