I just got an order for pick up and I am honestly so disappointed. I have had better gas station sushi. The small miso is the size of a condiment container. I asked for spicy sriracha and was charged extra and there was none. The amount of wasabi was about the size of a dime.

Decided to try take out from here on the recommendation of a local. Arrived at about 7pm on a Thursday night. Busy but not a full house. Lively atmosphere.
First thoughts on the menu was a mix of surprise and disappointment that some of my old standbys and fav’s were not listed. I inquired as to the availability of a spicy tuna roll and was told no – but they did offer a Cajun tuna roll. OK, I decided to try. Also missing my other fav salmon and avocado roll, so ordered a salmon roll and a cucumber avocado roll separately.
The sushi was tasty but I was not expecting that the tuna in the Cajun roll would be cooked.
Service time was ok considering I was a walk up. The price seemed a bit on the high side at $24 for the 3 rolls.

The agadashi tofu, pork belly ramen and gyoza were delicious. All the food came out really quickly and was nice, hot, fresh and full of flavour. The service was exceptional, professional and friendly without being over bearing. And really reasonably priced. My friend got the Skeena roll and sushimi, which was also really good quality.

My wife and her friend had a very disappointing experience at Blue Water Restaurant due to poor communication and unprofessional service.

They were seated and served their food without any prior notice of a time limitation. Only after the food was served, they were abruptly told that they had 20 minutes to finish and leave because the restaurant was fully booked. This information should have been communicated clearly before seating them, allowing them to make an informed decision. No apology or attempt to handle the situation politely was offered only a directive to leave within a short timeframe, Beyond this service issue, the overall experience was further diminished by the lack of authenticity in the Japanese cuisine, which did not meet expected standards. When combined with the disregard for basic customer care, this reflects poorly on the restaurant’s commitment to culinary quality and hospitality. Good food should be accompanied by good service. Unfortunately, this experience showed a lack of professionalism and respect for customers, which is disappointing for a restaurant serving the local community. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves both communication and service standards.

Overall good food and ambience; busy place in Smithers!

Sunomono salad: sour refreshing taste; definitely stimulating for the appetite and a good palette cleanser in between/after eating

War miso soup: such a good twist, and a heartier version of a regular miso soup. It has hints of sesame oil, chili oil, and chewy clear noodles

Spicy tuna bites: thinly breaded with cajun seasoning. The tuna did not smell or taste fishy. It’s not spicy. This was my partner’s favourite

Salmon delight “boat”: good serving size; good option if you want a well-balanced meal. It comes with a regular miso soup

Spicy sushi combo: the tuna nigiri is surprisingly fresh! And it does not have a fishy taste or smell; the tuna melted right in my mouth. The sushi roll is okay; nothing too special. The combination is not spicy at all… This order comes with a regular miso but can be upgraded to the “war miso soup” for an extra charge

Ambience and aesthetic of the place was modern and clean. There seems to be an octopus theme happening. The washroom has a baby changing station, which is a plus for parents with babies and toddlers.

Flavour was great, service was quick and Shelley was very knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients, and the atmosphere was lively but not chaotic. A great experience and will definitely be back on a future visit to Smithers ❤️

I’ve had sushi here many times, however the past few have been very disappointing. I used to travel from Burns Lake just for the sushi and I won’t be doing that anymore. Way too much rice on every roll that it’s hard to get down, takes over any and all flavour. Each roll was disappointing in its own way, but mostly because of the rice. Had to ask for everything twice as well which got frustrating (unagi, soy, etc.) Just very disappointing as blue water used to be amazing.

Extraordinary tasting sushi! Blue water has a warm welcome strait as you enter the door. Hearing great things around town. I had to check it out.

The restaurant is fairly big, and beautiful at best. You have a choice to sit at a table or a bar. I would highly recommend sitting at the bar if your dining by your self as you get to see the amazing chefs at hard work cooking delicious food. Great for the family or a date for your special one. Service is amazing!

With many different and unique types of sushi, salads, and soups there’s never a lack of variety.
My personal favourite is the Volcano. Not sure what’s in it but I got a great pic!
Everything I had tasted was spectacular and even at the busiest of times the longes wait was 15 minutes.

I’m definitely coming back, you should check it out. What would I ever do with out you …
