Blue Star Cafe is a nice little, old fashioned diner that also serves ice cream. I went there for breakfast and was seated right away. The staff seemed fairly quick, and I was served fast. I tried Dawn’s scramble, eggs with feta, spinach, and tomato. It was great, and generous side of potatoes made for a good addition. I was quite happy with my meal, and I’d definitely consider coming back.

Blue Star Café in Douglas, MI, is an adorable little spot that’s clearly well taken care of. Though it’s on the smaller side with limited tables, the cozy atmosphere adds to its charm. They offer a tempting selection of food and ice cream, all of which looked fantastic.
Our server was prompt and attentive, which made the experience even better. I ordered the Hot Turkey with French fries, and my wife opted for a ½ BLT sandwich and a bowl of Chicken Noodle soup. After a brief wait, our food arrived hot and fresh. Everything tasted great, and we were very satisfied with our meals.
Do note, they close at 3 PM, so plan to get there early. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and I would definitely come back the next time I’m in town!

Cute place for some ice cream. Wish there were more options to choose from other than soft serve. Don’t get me wrong, they do have some, just wanted more. What we did get was good. You order outside at a window. I guess I would’ve liked the option since they had indoor dining, to order inside. Still very cute place, will probably visit again.

Quite a lovely interior, outside is also nice but the cars driving by make it a lot less atmospheric. I got a small soft serve and it was still HUGE! I recommend sharing with a friend or getting the junior size for kids. I couldn’t finish the small, sadly… but it’s very delicious! Quite thick and creamy soft serve. The service was also very fast, it wasn’t very busy so I got my order a few moments after I paid.

We came here for breakfast and that seemed fine, not anything extraordinary. But we were disappointed in the waitressing. There was not really a lot of friendliness or welcoming attitude. But most of all our waitress did not warn us that if we substituted even one item in our omelet it would become a build your own. That increased our cost by $5. And all we wanted to do was change one vegetable to another vegetable. When we said something about it the girl said it was on the menu somewhere. I think it would have been the right thing for the waitress to point that out when we were going to do the exchange. That was very disappointing

Classic diner experience with reasonable prices. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with potatoes, while my boyfriend had a build-your-own omelet and we shared a side of bacon and sausage. My Eggs Benedict was tasty, though the potatoes could use a bit more flavor. The bacon was crisp and flavorful—definitely better than the sausage links (and I usually prefer sausage!). The coffee was a bit weak but frequently refilled, which was appreciated. The portions are generous. The diner has charming décor, and both the tables and restroom were very clean. If I’m in the area again, I’d love to come back to try their lunch options and ice cream.

This is an absolute must for a solid comfort food breakfast spot. The biscuits and gravy were some of the best we’ve had in Michigan and the breakfast sandwich and omelette were fantastic. It gives off a “hole in the wall” vibe but that won’t matter when you taste the food. Anytime we are in Saugatuck we stop in for breakfast. Consistently delicious and friendly customer service.

We live in Saugatuck, and the first time for breakfast. It was rainy day on Saturday morning, place was busy and had to wait for a while. The food was a great and friendly service. But I wish it had more tables so we don’t have to wait. Because we were very hungry .

Food was delicious. The place was small and cute, very busy on a late summer morning. We didn’t have a wait at 10:45 a.m. but it looked like one started shortly after we got there. Our waitress was wonderful and got us started on drinks right away. She took our order and put it in but we had to wait about 30 minutes for our food. Not sure if that was because they were busy or what. There were only three of us, so it isn’t like we were a huge party.
Once the food finally arrived it was hot and tasty and everyone got just what they ordered. I particularly loved that they served real shredded hash brown potatoes (where I live in New York, has browns are fried cubed potatoes, which are called home fries here). My husband ordered the home fries and said they were good but wished they’d included green peppers and onions like they serve back East. Well, I told him, that’s what they do out here in the land of the Pop (not soda, lol).
The moral of the story is the Blue Star Cafe will serve up a tasty, inexpensive breakfast that’s worth the wait. Try it!
