Social Profile:

Blue Square Pizza is a sourdough pizzeria founded in 2022 in Hopkinton, MA. We focus on bringing three exciting pizza trends to your home: Detroit-style pizza, grandma pizza, and the New York-style round pie. We believe the crust should be the best part of the pizza, and great crust starts with the understanding of how to bake great bread. That’s why we employ bread baking techniques to the in-house production of our pizza dough. Our pizza philosophy is centered on just three ingredients: dough, sauce, and cheese. We celebrate the simple, traditional heritage of pizza and we do that by allocating most of our time to the dough process and by sourcing the ripest, most vibrant tomatoes on the market along with the highest quality cheese.

I went to Blue Square today for the first time and will definitely be going back. I had the New York and Detroit styles and they were both excellent!! The staff is super friendly also. It was the best pizza I have ever had! The crust was nice and crispy, great sauce and plenty of toppings. Give it a try! You will be glad you did!!

The Detroit style Pepperoni, Burrata, Hot Honey pizza is the best around. Their dough is a sour dough and tastes amazing and is nice and crispy like a Detroit style pizza should be. They use only the best ingredients. I highly recommend this restaurant. When it’s busy pizza can take a long time to make and it’s a little pricey, but for me, paying a couple dollars more for a pizza of this quality is worth it. It costs more because the quality ingredients cost more.

The pizza itself was fine, but the experience was misleading. Despite advertising a dine-in option, there is no real dining area. There are only three tables and about twelve chairs, most of them occupied by takeout customers waiting for their orders. No napkins were available—which is surprising since the pizza has a crispy crust and is meant to be eaten by hand. I also didn’t see any restroom for customers. If you’re ordering takeout only, it might be okay, but don’t expect any basic in-store amenities.

I’m going to be real, all the reviews that are good please ignore! I literally just ordered some pizza going off the reviews and some. Chicken wings, the chicken wings are rubbery and the pizza don’t even seem fully done…

After trying 2 times walking in to get a pizza we finally ordered online. The wait was 90 min each time we tried a walk in. Good for them. Our order said ready on the screen. We waited and waited for someone to help us. 1 kid was on the phone, and then someone started calling names out 10 min later. Then someone went in front of me to order and I got even more upset. I finally had to yell out did you call my name! Yes it’s here. 10 min to get an order that said ready. I thought by now things would be running well. You can’t eat there because there are 4 tables. You can’t take a pizza home in a box if you really know pizza. It will steam the crust and be horrible. We drove down the road and used a table at the pond. We got the NY style and Detroit. The NY was a forgettable pizza. It was paper thin, very little sauce and very little cheese. I do not like a heavy pizza but this takes the cake on a no substance pizza. It was like eating dust. This is not even vaguely close to a NY Pizza! No way in hell is this pizza close to a 7.9 rating per Dave Portnoy. I have been to many of Dave’s spots and pretty much always agree with his ratings. Not this time. I would get a Papa Gino’s pizza before ordering their NY style pizza. NOW, the Detroit pizza was very good. My family did not like the NY pizza. We have traveled all over the country trying the best pizza available. I get it Dave, your girl is from Hop town. We know good pizza. Antico’s of Georgia, Pepe’s in CT, Regina’s. I don’t know if everyone is just ordering a Detroit, but no way was the NY pizza that they made us close to being a good NY style or any style pizza that would crave a return visit. After all the rave I thought this had a good chance of being the one. Although I am now hearing feedback from friend’s that tell me it’s just ok. They know better than to tell me it’s great pizza if it is not. Whoever made this pizza this evening doesn’t have a clue. I should have gave a separate review for the Detroit. I am a NY kind of guy. I have only had Detroit twice. It was very good. I won’t even talk about value. A family member said it was good when they opened but the people making the pizza’s are not there anymore. He too got a bad pizza last time and won’t go back.

The pizza options are good — the crust is sourdough, which is unique and makes it feel less greasy than your usual pizza. My partner and I ordered a large detroit style pizza. The pizza itself is good, although barely worth the $30 we paid for it in my opinion. The center was delicious, but the crust was too hard and difficult to eat. The place itself definitely makes it seem like they expect people to order for takeout, which is what my partner and I did. I recommend ordering in advance — we ordered online and it was ready in forty minutes. Overall a decent experience, it’s a bit out of the way for us but I am curious to come back and try some of their other pizza styles.

My Detroit was completly burnt underneath. Top was fine, but still so burnt I couldn’t enjoy it I could only just eat it so I don’t throw 30$ away.. speaking of the price, this place is too overpriced. Not worth the extra money, I guess everyone can decide for themselves but personally I don’t think it’s worth paying extra sourdough or not. Service was told 1hour , waited almost 1hr 40 min, was a Friday night but still if it’s going to be 2hrs that’s fine but just tell me so I can plan accordingly. I’ll get the kids something else, or order from somewhere else and save a trip to blue square for a night when I’m ordering for just myself and the wife. It’s not like you told me 45min and took an hour. I waited almost 45minutes more in the car as there was no room to wait or sit in the dinning room. The grandma was ok, wasn’t burnt like the Detroit but again it was all average. If the prices were like any other place then it would be a decent spot to get pizza but I don’t see the point in spending 20-25$ extra for 2 pizzas.

We drove a town over to experience this delicious and unique pizza!

We got the Detroit style Soppressata and Hot Honey. The hot honey was not spicy even though they said that it is. The red sauce on top had a sweetness to it.

I like the caramelized outside crust that was on all sides and even the bottom. Inside was soft and delicious.

Then we got the New York style classic cheese, New York style mushroom truffle pizza and the Blue Square pizza.

Depending how you like your crust the New York Pizza crust is very crunchy.

All the kids after the first bite made comments like… Magnificent, satisfying, and wow!

We ordered our pizza online and you want to make sure that you refresh with the update button to see the correct pickup time. Because when I was just refreshing the browser it kept saying 30 minutes but then when I hit the update button it jump to 70 minutes.

I like how they have a TV screen and lets you know the progress and time until you have pizza’s ready. It’s accurate.

Can’t wait to return.

Excellent food with quality ingredients with a quaint atmosphere similar to the old NY pizza shops! I have tried several times to get to this pizzeria at the recommendations of friends but they have usually run out of pies when I have tried to order. Today I finally was successful. Some things to know: their menu though full of options, is not adjustable – you can’t make your own pizzas. They apparently get very busy (because they are so good) so they will run out so best to order early (can’t preorder online before opening but can order the day prior).

So to the meal itself: we tried the vodka meatball and the pepperoni. Let me tell you – I have a very short list of pizzerias in MA that I like and this one bulldozed its way into it! Their ingredients are fresh and quality. Their dough is seasoned perfectly! Excellent consistency.

I recommend ordering to go – we drove from Hopkinton to Upton and it was still piping hot. You want to visit this place but trust me when I say order early. I have tried for a year or two to finally get here & it was worth it. If you like pizza you want to eat here – soooo much better than the ever disappointing Regina’s that Bostonians have been manipulated into believing is good pizza.

They get five stars from me !! I’m coming back!!

My final rating is always based on the quality of food and the service. Environments vary and as a NYer, I grew up knowing that goldmine restaurants often have less than ideal environments bc of opportunity.

The pizza is always delicious! Perfect crust, just the right amount of sauce. The price is on the higher side, but totally worth it as an occasional treat.”
