Absolutely fantastic spot. I had the gyro, and it was spectacular, but the real standout was the Turkeyville Smoker. A simple sandwich done exceptionally well — packed with flavor and genuinely transcendent. The bread was perfect: just enough crust on the outside, soft on the inside, with a great crumb. Honestly, just thinking about it is mouthwatering.
The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. It was snowing, yet they still made sure everyone who walked through the door felt taken care of. Nothing but smiles, warm greetings, and classic Minnesota hospitality.
The space itself is very clean and thoughtfully designed. I loved the cozy cabin vibe — it really feels like you’ve stopped at an “up north” local burger joint or bar, done right.
Pricing is more than fair. I was able to get two full meals for under $30, which feels like a steal for the quality.
I’ll absolutely be coming back, and I won’t just recommend this place — I’ll be dragging people here with me for a great meal.

This place is definitely one of the best spots to grab something to eat in the south metro. The sandwiches, the soups, the prices, the service, etc… all amazing! It seems like everything here is homemade and you can tell the family running the place really cares and works hard. Every foodie in Minnesota should of done a video on these guys already

I’m shooketh!!! I did a quick search for gluten free restaurants for Burnsville in Google Maps and Blue Ox was in the list. My eye caught another review saying they have gluten free food. I went to the website and searched high and low but I couldn’t find anything about gluten free offerings or substitutes for bread. I was just going to give up and decided to call them. I was told that they can substitute any sandwich with a gluten free bun. I really, really wanted the Ruben!! I stopped on my way home and ordered it with a gluten free bun, extra meat (not necessary, trust) thousand island dressing on the side and pickles on the side too. The best Ruben (gluten free bun) I’ve ever had was in Park Rapids. I told the employee this and he said he hopes this Ruben can live up to the expectations. I’m serious when I say that I don’t know what kind of magic is happening at Blue Ox but ✨abracadabra ✨ I have to seriously question other restaurants choices for gluten free bread offerings because this bun is magical ✨ I put it in my air fryer for a few minutes to heat everything up and this bun is amazing it’s hard to believe it’s gluten free!! I have decided to make it my mission to try every sandwich on the menu!!! If you’re celiac like myself or you’re avoiding gluten, trust me you will be hooked the first time you experience this sandwich!!!

Had a job next to this spot and being a sandwich guy I had to stop and try. -I got the “Sorry Babe” and it’s definitely in my top five best sandwiches. The bread was out of this world good, the meat was phenomenally tender, and the sauce was just hitting right, the balance of blu cheese to creamy sauce ratio was perfect. 10 of 10, would smash again!

Plenty of seating at the time we were there, a bit early for dinner. But it isn’t a large place. There was mostly take out orders besides us.
The choices of sandwiches were excellent, but not overwhelming.
I had a Sawmill, and my grandson had a Sorry Babe which I also tried. Both were really good. I also loved their fries, which were well cooked, thin cut, and hot. The staff seemed happy to be there and enthusiastic. The place seemed clean, even the rest room.
If I didn’t live so far away (30 miles) we would certainly go back soon. But next time we are anywhere near, we will stop in.

Amazing spot to eat. Food is all fresh and cooked to order. Locally owned and owners are always there to ensure an amazing experience. Highly recommend the walleye sandwich. But really everything is good. The salads are huge and amazing. They also have a really good kids menu that’s super affordable. Great swap for the family or just a solo lunch break

I’ve loved this place for close to 10 years now. I love the Swamp thing and the BigJoe chicken sandwiches. Freshly made sandwiches. Friendly and attentive staff. Have enjoyed most menu items. Malts/milkshakes, desserts, soups, fries and chips are all solid choices.

One of the best sandwich shops I’ve ever been too (and I travel often)! I’ve been coming here for years because I enjoy their food and the quality remains the same.
The location could be easily missed but it is easy to find right outside the Burnsville mall. Parking is free and there is ample. The space is smaller, it’s a family owned sized feel.
The food is delicious! Everything I’ve ever ordered I have enjoyed. Flavorful, healthy, fresh. Some of my favorite are the Mighty Buffalo and Turkeyville smoker (I add pickles & extra honey mustard). Their bread is so yummy and it’s like its baked on site daily.
I also love their delicious homemade desserts like the raspberry oatmeal and peanut butter rice crispy! The soups, salads and shakes are also great and flavorful options. Can’t go wrong here!

This is my second time coming here & it didn’t disappoint. I don’t go to this area very often, so when I was searching for a great sandwich shop, I guess the name drew me in first, but the food & friendly service draws me back. As I recall, on the 1st visit I had the Italian sandwich, my go-to. I remember I liked it very much. My 2nd visit I had the Shore Lunch (walleye sandwich). It was delish, very tasty with a light batter & just the right amount of good tarter sauce. Since I was there on a Wednesday, I had the soup of the day, Fresh Mushroom. Oh my gosh! It was the best! I really want to work my way through their menu, so I will need to plan to make more trips in that area. The prices are just right too, very affordable.
