Date Night

Although I adore Thai food, it was our first time at Blue Orchid (yeah, I know). Neither of us realized it’s like hidden in an alley, we had been wondering why we’d never driven by it before. No reservation but they were only half full so we were seated right away.

My husband was immediately thrilled to find Hot Sake on the menu. We chose a couple of starters. He, the Chicken Satay, dude loves chicken on a stick…what can I say?! He barely touched the peanut sauce but was super happy with the marinade on the meat itself. Got a Spring Roll, it was kinda weird and gummy and confusing. Also the Veggie Tempura which was pretty lacking in the tempura coating but the Sweet & Sour sauce accompanying it was magical! It even made the Broccoli extra yummy, I ate everything but the Baby Corn cuz it is an abomination . The sauce was nearly identical to the Cucumber Salad and I wished I would have brought a Vat of it home!

My husband adores soup and the Tom Kha was calling his name, added Chicken for protein. Absolutely delicious, he said he’d drive here just for that. I thought it looked amazing and I don’t even do soup. He chose the Crying Tiger off the Signature menu. Steak and Edamame. Great flavors, great cook, so much meaty-ness!

When I saw the Masaman Curry I got excited! I fell in love with this flavor profile at Banhwich Cafe. I chose Tofu for my protein. Layers of flavors, yummy coconut, not enough veggies for me though so I may just go that route next time. Finished with a Pineapple Basil Cocktail. Had a bite to it, very good drink.

Our server Charty was so personable and did a Great job! The wonderful thing about Thai food is you can swap your proteins on most items. So many combo possibilities!

Service: We were in town for some work and we heard good reviews about this Thai restaurant so decided to go for a dinner. We reached the nearest cross roads there but were not able to locate this place. We called the restaurant from literally diagonally across the street from I think a Hilton. We got directions to get there plus the parking suggestions. That was very nice of them and we give 5 star for the service. Once we entered the ambience is nice and we were seated at a table of our choice. They also accommodated our request to get our food early as we had another event we need to go for.

Food: We ordered two vegetarian entrees and coconut milk soup. I would give the food no more than 3 stars. The soup was bland and missing Thai spices and the zing! I guess we are spoiled probably from the northern California Thai Food! The food was bland and missing on taste.

Atmosphere: There were a lot of people at the restaurant even at around 9PM that is a good thing. The decorations and lighting were good! Their restrooms were clean and tidy.

We had a wonderful experience at this Thai restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious; full of flavor and beautifully prepared. The restaurant was very clean and well maintained, which made the dining experience even more pleasant. The inside atmosphere had such a great vibe, warm, inviting, and relaxing. Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back!

The food was great (we expect that after years of eating there). We added the duck rolls as one of our staple appetizers, so good. The bar service is slow (like order a beer when you start an entree and get it right before you finish) and we ordered vegetables with one of our entrees that didn’t make the order (we do this every time) and by the time they came out, most of our party were about do e eating ant they were under cooked. Little things that can make a 5 stars experience a 4 star one.

Blue Orchid has outstanding food. This often overlooked restaurant in downtown Lincoln has fabulous Thai food. Service is excellent and atmosphere is enjoyable. A great choice for lunch or dinner.

We came in as a party of four on a Saturday evening. We seated very quickly, which surprised me but I obviously didn’t mind. It turns out we were just earlier than the normal rush. Be sure to know where to park before arriving, there really isn’t anywhere to park here so we had to locate a garage, which was just fine. The one 1 block north gives you the first hour free.

We started with an appetizer of Duck Rolls. They were so delicious! Highly recommend starting out with an order of these.

We ordered Basil Fried Rice (first picture), the second picture is Bun Noodles, and not pictured but ordered was Beef Noodle Soup and Asian Delight. We all enjoyed our food, it was good, but decided we would probably try something different the next time we dined here.

The staff was amazing. Very professional host who seated is and filled out water glasses. The waitress was very kind, knowledgeable about the menu, and was very attentive without it being over the top.

If you haven’t been here before give it a try.

We made a reservation for NYE and sat pretty quickly. Host was very kind. After we were seated, the service declined significantly. Our server was clearly rushed and not very charismatic. I ordered a mixed drink and I had to ask for it after waiting 15 min after our food arrived. The food was also really bland and underwhelming. Maybe because they were busy, their service lacked but overall, was not impressed by our first visit.

I hadn’t been here in years and I was so pleased to find out that the food and drinks here are better than ever. The Thai iced tea and pineapple basil cocktail both tasted so delicious. We just about inhaled our meals as well: the Pacific medley with white rice, and the Khao soi (curried noodles). Everything was excellent, including the service and the ambiance. We will be back.

I love this place. They screwed up my drink order but that happens. Our server deserves 5 stars for his efforts on our behalf. Everyone had great meals and it was a happy birthday dinner. p.s. I think I’m addicted to their drunken noodles with octopus.

The variety when you need it…

What
I went during lunch time and selected the lunch special of one appetizer and one lunch item. I got the Spring Rolls for appetizer. Definitely was not what I imaged, the description said it was steamed but i felt more like it was microwaved. The sauce on top was also quite different, not my fav. I asked for this to be made without eggs but it still came out with eggs. For those that are very particular with the dietary needs, please be careful. I then got the red curry with tofu. It was okay, mediocre. It got the job done in terms of filling my hunger but I wouldn’t say it enticed my tastebuds.

very nice place. There are a lot of seating inside.

Niceness of the staff
Super nice staff. I was able to put in my order with no issues. They also adjusted my lunch special pricing to compensate for bring the appetizer with the egg inside.
