Pros: interesting menu, delicious food, great ambiance, great service
Cons: not much parking, a tad bit pricy (but worth it)

If you want good Ethiopian food in Houston, this is the place! It’s a hidden gem, but worth checking out! It’s a little on the expensive side, but totally worth it. I would recommend this place for special events, such as a really special date or wedding anniversary. And you don’t need reservations. I recommend any of their savory food (trust me–it’s all great!), and any of the desserts that are freshly made the day you’re visiting; if you ask for any of the other desserts, they’ll have to pull them out of the freezer and the flavor will be… passible, but not as good. I’ll have to come back for their coffee ceremony at some point!

Very nice ambience and a great experience. The food was so delicious. Mekdes was super professional and very attentive. As it was our first time in blue nile, she helped lot with her awesome suggestions from the menu. Pistachio cake and Ethiopian honey wine are must-tries. Definitely will come back.

I recently dined at Blue Nile and had one of the best restaurant experiences in a long time, thanks largely to my waitress-Mare. From the moment I was seated, she greeted me with a warm smile and a genuinely welcoming attitude.

Mare was knowledgeable about the menu and gave helpful recommendations when I couldn’t decide. She checked in at just the right times—never intrusive, but always attentive. she made sure my food came out correctly on time.

The dishes were exceptionally delicious and authentic. The Injera was made of 100% Teff which is gluten free and exceptionally nutrient dense. The restaurant has relaxed ambience and great cultural art works/artifacts. I will be definitely going back!!

This dining experience changed my life. The cuisine was exquisite and our server, Mar, was very knowledgeable about the items on the menu and gave excellent recommendations on vegetarian dishes as well. Tne jazz music, the fireplace, and Mar’s excellent attention to detail contributed to an atmosphere that will definitely have me coming back. Try the Yefisik Beyayinetu. You won’t be disappointed. I absolutely love eating at this restaurant! The ambiance is beautiful and welcoming, the customer service is excellent, and the location is very accessible. The Ethiopian cuisine is delicious and full of flavor. Most importantly, they serve authentic teff injera( upon request), which is not always easy to find. Every visit is a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!

The food is very good, albeit a little pricey. If you stick to the sampler plates, you’ll get better value. The lentils are delicious. Highly recommend the vegetarian platter.

We have been visiting Blue Nile since 2017, we loved the food here and the atmosphere which is usually quiet and elegant. Today, however, will be our last time visiting – we simply can’t justify the amount of money being charged for the food/drinks.

They charged us 5 dollars for 1 CAN of coke (and no refills). I understand restaurants are already operating on a small margin, and smaller mom and pop restaurants have even a smaller margin at times. I understand that price in food may go up, especially year over year, and we don’t mind paying for good food.

And pay we did, because when looked at our bill for lunch we had sticker shock, it was over 68+ dollars for lunch. We got the veggie combo and the meat combo, the same combo we’ve ordered for years. Plus tax and tip and it was well over 80 dollars for lunch. The last time we went earlier this year I could have sworn it was closer to 50 dollars total. Also, they didn’t serve us the cabbage that’s in the picture from earlier this year – so we got one less item.

The restaurant didn’t have their AC on today and the ceiling fans were broken according to our waitress. So it was warmer than normal inside and she wasn’t allowed to turn on the AC. The service was nice enough, but nothing stood out.

They’re getting 2 stars for the memories and the food which was still very good, but we won’t be back.

I took my sister to Blue Nile for her birthday. She absolutely loved it! Our waitress, Yeala, was so good to us. She explained the menu in detail and answered an abundance of questions with enthusiasm, patience, and kindness. It was nice meeting the owner too (very sweet woman).

Simply put, Blue Nile has great energy and great food. All of the guests were in awe of the food (and coffee)!

Good place entree portions are generous, too big to finish you’ll need a to go plate. Healthy food.

When talking to the waitress about other Ethiopian restaurants in Houston she was very gracious and had a positive attitude about other locations and didn’t have anything ugly to say and that was very professional of her and she really gave a great service and had a nice vibe. I liked very much how she didn’t have a negative attitude about other places and was very complimentary of them. It shows a good example of how businesses in the same industry should treat each other because there is an interest for businesses to promote excellence amongst each other and this place handles that very well. Ethiopian food in Houston is represented great by this place and their people.
