This place needs to decide who they are. Seems like if you are here for drinks and some Mexican bar food you will be pleased… we were not. Service was slow and the wait staff seemed inconvenienced. Patrons who were primarily drinking received twice as many visits by wait staff than our table. Overall the shrimp tacos were good. I would compare them to really good food truck tacos. Probably won’t stop here again.

Decided to follow up on a recommendation this evening by dinning in over at the “Blue Iguana Mexican Cantina” in #leclaireiowa .

This is what I call an “Americanized Mexican” restaurant where the food is processed, deep fried, out of a can with way too much salt and not enough flavor.
4 out of 10 ⭐ ♂️ Just not my style of food unfortunately. Sorry.

On the bright side, restaurant is nice, service was ok, establishment was clean, parking was convenient, restrooms were ok and food prices were average. Hate giving a negative review but not all restaurant’s can be 8+ stars.

Delicious food and a fantastic atmosphere whether you sit inside or out. The riverfront view is amazing. The food is delicious and has layer upon layer of flavor. Chips and salsa are complimentary and there are drink specials every day.

Good food, but far more expensive than in larger towns, especially given the prices don’t include any sides. The Campechano Tacos, for example, were wonderful, but were $13 for three tacos and nothing else. No drink menu, just “we have Pepsi products,” and we were seated outside because there was “no room” inside (there were only five of us and we never saw any kind of crowd coming or going), so we had no idea if there were margaritas or other offerings. Unfortunately the service went downhill from there: slow and inattentive. A group of four who came in and ordered after us were almost finished with their meal before we even received ours.

I actually liked it. I READ OTHER REVIEWS… ♂️ ♂️I DONT AGREE. Food was Great. Different in areas but was good. Taste Not Bad. Fajitas r my Favorite dish and Believe it or not.. This place is in My Top 10.. and I have been to over 500 Places eating Fajitas.. Big Accomplishment..but why not 5 stars then.. Blame it on Corona Virus if u have to but.. A Little A$$ plastic fork to eat??? Paper Cups..baskets etc.. Look I get it but.. Its Like….. Using a Plastic knife to cut The BEST STEAK EVER. IT GETS THE JOB DONE BUT…. COME.ON NOW!! REALLY.. Other then that… Great Stop In LA Claire IA…. PS..cheese Dip Price Point… 9 bucks… No way. ITS NOT WORTH THAT BUT GOOD..JS..

Wow! I could not believe the margarita prices – they were so cheap I expected a mix – NOT!! I had a raspberry and it was the best I’ve ever had, so fresh! It was so good I had to try the green one too! Food was excellent too. We were there for the AMC races and went there a few times. Tried the fish tacos, chicken tacos, and fajitas. All excellent. Rice was great but black and refried beans were bland and tasted like they came out of a can but they’re just sides, the main food was fresh and SO good. Highly recommend this place.
