The only specialty small batch coffee roaster in St Michaels. Fresh roasted on the café floor, seven pounds at a time. Fourteen different current crop arabica coffees in stock. Stop in for a bag of beans, a cup of fresh roast or a little something to eat.
Drink locally roasted coffee…it’s just better.

While staying in St. Michael’s, every local told me the best coffee is Blue Heron Coffee. Run by a friendly man, this small coffee shop roasts their own beans from around the world. The coffee menu is robust and brew anything from drip coffee to a vanilla latte. Within minutes, my large vanilla latte was handed to me in a colorful branded to-go cup. The vanilla notes shined through the dark coffee roast. It was a good pick-me-up to start the day exploring this small Maryland town.

Our iced coffees were delicious – so many syrup options (lavender, vanilla, brown sugar cinnamon, etc.). There is an inside seating area, outside seating, and a few designated customer parking spots. Fun merch and products for sale too. It’s in a great location right on the main strip of shops and restaurants!

Stopped in St Michaels for the 4th of July weekend and got coffee here every day. Atmosphere was a vibe. Owner is awesome and will chat you up about anything and everything coffee. Its really great knowing all beans are roasted in house. I ordered an Iced Latte and Espresso shot, both were delicious. I will definitely come back next year, until then I’ll order beans online from their shop. Thank you for the excellent service.

We stopped in for coffee, and were pleasantly surprised by coffee being roasted right there! Service was great and friendly, and the coffee was good. We bought some beans and a fun book as well. There’s not much room to sit there, but great coffee shop. Definitely a place to check out if you enjoy coffee.

I have been a customer of Blue Heron for close to 10 years! I visit them when my wife and i vacation in St. Micheals. I used to buy my beans locally in Pennsylvania, but found the consistency was terrible. I started to buy from Blue Heron online since at least 2017. I can honestly say I have never had a complaint. Heather and Jay run a dynamite coffee shop, and are the best people. Online orders ship crazy fast, never a delay. Do not hesitate, go there now!

I know this is a late review…but I visited (St. Michael’s) Blue Heron Coffee on July 11th. The place is very cute and quaint. Who knew that they roasted their coffee in-house, small batches?!?!…I had to try!! I can’t remember what the flavor/roast of the day was…but it was good! I met Heather and Jay (owners), who were very friendly and accommodating (as I asked a lot of questions). I became super excited to notice that they have a coffee named When Doves Cry…and I LOVE Prince!!! As Jay learned of my love of Prince, the next thing I knew Prince was playing in the coffee house!! They are so cool! I purchased some coffee and other items. I will definitely be back. Great coffee, food, and customer service.

What a great little shop! I had the iced tea, and it was amazing. Earl Grey infused with mallow flower and licorice root. I highly recommend it. The staff is wonderful and the atmosphere is quaint and adorable.

Great coffee. Great service. Great vibe. The only coffee shop I choose to sit and work in without my AirPods – the music in the store is that good! Blue Heron is truly a local spot with loyal regulars, but visitors to the area will find it equally welcoming. Did I mention the coffee is so, so great? Don’t miss out on this gem!

We were traveling and stayed in St. Michaels and this was the local coffee shop that popped up. The cold brew was so flavorful and was the Guatemalan blend with notes of chocolate and vanilla. Highly recommend this spot for a coffee and a quick breakfast bite!
