Looks can be deceiving – Blue Heron was underwhelming. We were excited to visit for breakfast on the way up to Traverse City. Service was fast but unfriendly. Food was served on dirty, greasy plates. The omelet was very thick but had very little filling so it was 90% eggs. The brisket bowl was marginally better, but the brisket was a little dry and lacked the sweet potatoes and peppers represented in the menu description.
Lastly the interior and tables were dirty, bathrooms very dirty. Overall just not very good.

It’s a sad day today! My final breakfast at the Blue Heron…but I have the cup as a reminder. I was excited to go today! After I arrived, I noticed a little card that said 3.5% charge for credit cards and i guess also debit cards. On top of that prices went up? The breakfast here is average at best, I came for the environment. The breads can be good and the pie is not a $25 pie (I tasted cherry), ended up giving it away after one bite. My total bill was $50!!! For a half of potato, 2 eggs, two thin slices of toast, half cup of omelet filling with $3 coffee? I dont like the price point and I would not tip the waitress at these prices. Service is fine, food is average but the prices are ridiculous for the quality. Thanks for the good times and the thermal cup! Thanks Brook! Brook was the only one that communicated with me. The 2 star rating is because of the food and price point, it’s the reason I go…to have breakfast and if it’s not worth it or bad I dont care how great the service or environment is like.

Used Blue Heron for wedding reception catering and were very satisfied – would recommend. Delicious food, clear communication. Really helped make our wedding special (and relatively easy to plan – no stress related to food, running out, etc.)

The dinner at our daughter’s wedding was absolutely outstanding! From start to finish, working with Julie and her husband was a fantastic experience. The pot roast and apple-roasted pork were fantastic, and the fresh vegetables & delicious sourdough bread were equally memorable. We truly appreciated the care they put into tailoring a menu that fit us perfectly. Watching them work seamlessly as a team to serve 360 guests in just 25 minutes was remarkable. Our guests are still asking who prepared the meal, and we’re delighted to recommend them wholeheartedly.

My wife and stopped in on our way home from vacation. We were looking for breakfast or brunch, so I got on good old Google to see what I could find.

What a great discovery!

I had the farmers omelet and my wife had the breakfast breakfast. Both were excellent.

They also have fresh baked goods, so we got some cookies, fritters and more to take home.

We’ll definitely stop by the next time we’re in the area!

Oh and “Hi” to Mary, our waitperson who turned out to be a Flint area native too!

Food was delicious and filling. Everything is house-made including all the pastries and bread. The staff was very friendly, bathrooms and dining room weee very clean and the restaurant had a very inviting feel. We were a party of three and went on a Saturday morning around 9:30 AM and got a table right away. Our total bill with coffee and an added muffin was $44 for three adults. We will definitely be returning! Thank you for the great experience.
