I visited Blue Duck Tavern with a friend, and we truly enjoyed every moment—from the warm welcome to the last bite. The entire staff set the tone for a memorable experience, starting with Lizzie at the front desk, who was genuinely warm, gracious, and welcoming.

Our servers—Zach, Eric, and Juan—were attentive, knowledgeable, and seamlessly coordinated, making the service feel both polished and relaxed. The food was prepared to perfection: beautifully executed, thoughtfully seasoned, and absolutely delicious.

We also decided to try some of the flavor-infused lattes, which were a fun and delightful surprise. When one drink wasn’t quite right, Zach graciously swapped it out and brought a fantastic almond vanilla latte instead—exactly the kind of thoughtful service that elevates a dining experience.

The perfect ending came when Juan brought out the sticky buns—warm, indulgent, and unforgettable. A truly lovely final touch.
Blue Duck Tavern delivers on every level: exceptional food, outstanding service, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to linger. Highly recommend this fine dining experience, whether for a special occasion or a refined everyday treat.

Very neat restaurant that unlike most hotel dining, it stands out from the hotel on its own. The servers were extremely personable and professional, it’s hard to find a good balance at most higher end establishments.
The food in presentation and taste was excellent. We had breakfast and lunch there. The crab cakes and pork sandwich were our favorites.
The atmosphere is nice and open with big windows with a nice view even in the winter!

Came to Blue Duck Tavern for dinner with a friend. We had the seasonal soup as an appetizer, two orders of their amazing sourdough bread, got the duck breast, rice porridge, BDT fries, and the Baba St. Germain for dessert. We agree we could have split the duck. The cost for dinner is very high but the portions are actually very filling and fair. My friend is a male and I am a female and were both very full.
My favorite dish was the soup and the rice porridge was a very flavorful side. The french fries were very unique and the servers were very attentative.
I would say the price is what stops me from giving it 5 stars. Not sure I would come again for dinner but I would come for lunch which is more reasonably price. The decoration is nice and atmosphere too. The dessert was fun because it was different and unique but is small. Perfect for wanting something sweet to hit the spot that wasnt heavy. Sorbet was super good.

An unforgettable evening in the Glass Booth—fantastic food and service!

We visited Blue Duck Tavern for a New Year’s Eve family dinner, and it was easily one of the nicest restaurant experiences we have had in a long time.

The Atmosphere: If you can, book one of the exclusive “glass booths.” It was a fantastic experience—we felt like we were in the middle of the action and could observe the surroundings, yet we were shielded from the noise. It made it easy to talk to each other while still soaking in the energy of the room. The live music was the cherry on top of a perfect vibe.

The Food: The kitchen is operating at a high level. The wine selection is excellent, and the food was outstanding. Do not miss the crab cakes or the wood-fired swordfish mousseline—both were melting in our mouths. We were also happy with kid’s menu; our kids loved the pasta and burger options, which can be rare at this level of fine dining.

The Service: A huge thank you to our host Derriqk Kitt, who was the highlight of our night. He made us feel incredibly welcomed and anticipated everything we needed before we even asked. It is rare to find service this warm and polished.

Breakfast: We returned the next morning for the breakfast buffet, and it is superb value ($45/adult, $25/kid). The amount of choice was fantastic, and the quality was just as high as dinner.

Whether for a romantic date or a family celebration, this place delivers on every front. We will sure be coming back.

We stayed at the Park Hyatt and had the opportunity to visit twice during our stay. Our first time was for desserts and drinks. The service is excellent, very attentive and what you would expect from a place like this. They sat us in a cozy corner and were very friendly. We ordered three desserts and two drinks. Unfortunately, they all were ok. The drinks especially, had interesting names and ingredients but tasted like simple drinks you could easily mix yourself. The desserts were beautifully presented but also lacked the wow factor we were hoping for. The second visit was for breakfast. Very nice menu, better flavors but also nothing that I’d be dying to go back for. Beautiful presentation but very normal flavors.

Blue Duck Tavern: Exceptional American Fine Dining

Located within the Park Hyatt, the Blue Duck Tavern delivers excellent American cuisine, defined by polished service, warm furnishings, and precise cooking.

The Food:
The duck was excellent. The breast was cooked medium-rare with incredible crisp skin, while the leg was rich and crispy. The texture contrast between the succulent breast and the rich, confit-style leg made this a standout dish.

Sourdough Bread: Baked to order and house-made. It arrived warm with a chewy crust and a pillowy soft, whole-wheat crumb.

The Sides: The coarse ground grits were topped with a red onion marmalade, adding a necessary acidity and sweetness that cut through the creamy richness of the Appalachian cheese.

Dessert: The meal wrapped up with one scoop of the Bergamot and one scoop of the Pear, Honey, and Ginger sorbets. A refreshing, light, and palate-cleansing end to a rich meal.

Wine and Service:
The Wine: The Argyle Reserve Pinot Noir is the most popular pour because it is highly approachable and pairs well with the poultry.

⭐ Special thanks to Lewis, our server and sommelier. With over 10 years of experience running restaurants, his knowledge of the menu and wine list was impeccable.

Insider Tip:
For an intimate experience, request one of the dedicated glass booths (seats 3-4). These offer privacy and ambiance but require a reservation well in advance.

Overall:
A fantastic destination for a memorable anniversary celebration or a high-end business dinner.

For a memorable birthday brunch, we chose Blue Duck Tavern at the Hyatt in Washington, DC, and it was a fantastic decision. We walked from our hotel, so I’m unsure about parking, but l’d suggest allowing extra time to find a spot in this busy area.
Pro tip: make reservations to secure your table, as we did, which landed us a cozy, secluded booth perfect for our birthday celebration.
Our entrees were outstanding. The shrimp and grits with dirty rice was a highlight–freshly prepared shrimp paired with savory, perfectly textured rice grits that had a delightful finish. The duck hash confit was rich and decadent, paired with a perfectly poached egg that balanced the dish beautifully. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot for a special brunch.
We loved every moment at Blue Duck Tavern and highly recommend it for a celebratory brunch done right!

Treated my sister to the holiday afternoon tea. The hotel and restaurant was nicely decorated for the holidays. All of the sandwiches, scones, and desserts were delicious and high quality! I do wish our server was able to explain the different tea selections a little bit more. I also was look forward to trying multiple teas but they only let you get one tea per person

I must take a minute to outline the experience and personally suggest all who visit BDT to ask for Raj. Every dining experience has an intangible magic ingredient and he is it! His service and attention to detail accented the superb execution of our meals! We thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary dinner and we were presented with a menu signed by the staff! Top tier all the way!

I ordered the seasonal French toast with a side of potatoes for breakfast and really enjoyed it. The portion size was generous and well worth the price. Everything tasted great, and it was a filling way to start the day.
