I am a foodie who knows good seafood, as I am from coastal North Carolina and have lived in Myrtle Beach, near Charleston, and in Savannah. So when I decided on a place for my birthday dinner, I attempted to choose carefully. When my fiancé and I entered the restaurant, there was no one at the hostess stand. When someone finally came to help us, our table wasn’t ready. We waited at the bar, and I must say the bartender and the drink she made were both fantastic!! I was excited to see what the rest of the evening held. Unfortunately, the waitress seemed very busy and ready for her shift to end, I noticed that she was not very attentive and kept coughing. She never told me happy birthday and didn’t offer a dessert menu. We had to find her to get our receipt because she just stopped coming to the table. I noticed that we were one of the last tables, but if I can make a reservation at the time I did, then I should still be a priority, especially on my birthday. The food was mediocre. The best part of the meal was the oysters Rockefeller. The oysters were surprisingly large. The she crab soup was just okay, as in not nasty, but not tasty. I hardly ever add salt to food, but I had to do something to remedy it. The one pro is that it had a good bit of crab in it. My fiancé wanted the ribeye that was on special, but they were out of them. Thankfully, he enjoyed his filet meal. I got the grouper meal, which wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t the best I’ve had. It was actually the worst. Also, my rice pilaf was almost raw. It was hard and stuck to my teeth. Another con is that, I felt extremely over dressed, as everyone else was very casual. My last pro is that the live music was nice. I read a lot of reviews that stated they didn’t understand the bad reviews. I certainly understand them. There are a lot of options in the Grand Strand for a seafood dinner, and I have been blessed to partake in some amazing ones. This was not one of my better meals or experiences. If you’re looking for great oysters and drinks, I’d say give it a try, but it you are looking for a romantic meal out or just to enjoy food, there are many more options along the coasts of the Carolinas.

Really wonderful service. Appetizers were amazing. But the grouper entree was not good at all. It smelled very fishy, and the texture/color was not correct. It was clearly going bad. I love grouper and eat it all the time and expected better from this place. I didn’t eat it. Paid for it anyways. Probably wouldn’t come back here since the bill was about $180 for two people and I left hungry.

What a great dining experience tonight! Our server, Ryder, went above & beyond. He was very personable & knowledgeable! The ribeye special was delicious – very flavorful & tender throughout. We will definitely be back!!!

It was my husband’s birthday and we were out and about so decided to finally stop in at Blue Drum and try them. Our neighbors have raved about them since we’ve known them. From the moment we walked in the door the staff was super friendly and chatty. The hostess didn’t flinch when I took a quick photo of my husband in front of the sign. As she walked us to our outside table the staff saw my hubby’s “It’s My Birthday” badge and everyone stopped to wish him a happy birthday! Our waiter was Grant R and he was fantastic! You will not go wrong with any recommendation that Grant makes for you. The man knows food and drink! Since I am kosher he asked the chef if they could make exceptions on some of the dishes so I could have….and they did. He also ensured that my husband’s fried shrimp came without the firecracker sauce. I had a Blue Drum Margarita, which is festive and delicious. I could not decide whether watermelon or jalapeño for my second margarita, so Grant has the bartender, Simone, whip up a combo. And, Simone knocked it out of the park! The birthday boy got Fried Shrimp for an appetizer and the Clams Linguini for meal and had Stella in a frosted glass. I got the Fish Bites (grouper) for appetizer and then Fish and Grits for main meal. (At the time I ordered the Grouper bites I had planned on the steak for dinner but they were so good I decided to go with more the grouper in my meal!) They gifted Louis a piece of Key Lime Pie with Raspberry topping for his birthday, and I had the double chocolate cake….EXCELLENT! Best we’ve had anywhere. The prices were commiserate to others in the area and for this calibre of food. We sat outside along the ICW. It was lovely. The only reason I didn’t not give five stars for atmosphere was because of the chairs. Not too comfortable. We took a wooden chair from the dining room and it was much better. So if you are a large person just ask for a wooden chair and they will accommodate. This is our absolute new favorite place, and we will be back there very soon. Thanks y’all!

We are in the area visiting. What a great experience. Our server was Jessica. Very nice and answered our questions. We had no wait time. We made a reservation and went early. Food was so good. Prices are reasonable. We would love to go back if we have time.

A 60th birthday lunch/dinner celebration for party of 6. Reservation was for 1pm & we ordered from dinner menu. The lobster bites appetizer ordered was enough for each to try – all enjoyed the flavor & sauce provided. We had 1 filet ordered (tasted wonderful) 2 ordered the crab cakes -delish! 2 ordered the salmon – wonderfully prepared and 1 ordered the filet tips – this was served with gravy that was a slightly salty tasting & the tips had gristle pieces making almost 1/2 of them too chewy. Overall a nice place but noisy on the inside (our 1st visit). We will return in better weather & when we can eat outside.

Overall the experience was good, our waitress was friendly and the views are amazing! I was not impressed by most of the food or the drinks. I would not recommend the white sangria. It was not good and I left over half of it in the glass. The clam chowder, fish bites and lobster bites were the best thing we had. The crab cake sandwich was under cooked and tasted like stuffing, the steak tips were just okay nothing special. I’m a local who enjoys trying new places so I can say I’ve been now. I can say though if I have a choice again for ocean front high end dining I will choose Clark’s which is normally my go to.

Our first visit last night, we were immediately impressed sitting outside and enjoying the beautiful view! Cannot remember the waitresses name, but she was absolutely phenomenal! Great personality and service and could not have been more helpful! We had the raw shrimp for an appetizer- was delicious!
My friend had the lobster and shrimp with linguini, the portion was huge! I had the caprese salad with chicken, awesome!
We both had coffee and shared the chocolate cake for dessert.
Our check for what we had was extremely reasonable!
I can honestly say that this is the best meal that I’ve had since moving here in June!
Highly recommend, this is a must visit!
Cannot wait to return!!
