This is a great restaurant hidden away. We went to eat dinner and they were not busy at all (it was black Friday). We were initially the only table. We were sat, tucked away in a little corner of the restaurant. We enjoyed a bottle of Lambrusco. Our appetizer was the cheese curds, which theirs may be the new standard for comparison. I enjoyed the stuffed chicken over mashed sweet potatoes and he had the nettle pasta with chicken. It was all amazing. We, unfortunately, did not get dessert but will for sure be back!

I came to the restaurant hungry, and I left the restaurant hungry.

I arrived at 9:30. It took 30 minutes to get some coffee and water and to take our order. I ordered a parfait, 2 biscuits and gravy with sausage, 2 fancy cakes, and sweet bites.
After 30 minutes of placing our order i still had not received my parfait, how long does it take to put fruit and granola in some yogurt? I asked if we could just our order in a To-go box since we had already been there for an hour without any food.

Another 30 more minutes passed by we finally got our order in a to go box. After an 1 hour and 30 minutes we wanted to get out of there. We were hungry, we haven’t even had our parfait yet! When we finally paid and got home, I was so mad to see that we overpaid, instead of 2 fancy cakes, I got one cake. Instead of 2 biscuits and gravy, I got half.

Yet we still paid full price. And still there was no parfait or sweet bites.

So they were not honest about what they charged us. Had us wait for an hour and half without twiddling our fingers. And they still got the order wrong and left out items.

Go down the block, plenty of restaurants in the area.

I want to start off by saying that I work in the service industry so I get that sometimes people have bad nights. However, I have never paid this much for such disappointing food. I came the blue bird bistro for a friends birthday party so there were about 10 of us. I already knew we’d need to be patient because that’s a lot for someone to serve. Our waiter was very nice but I think there were only 2 waiters for the whole place on a Saturday night so it took a lot longer than expected to get anything. We had the cheese curds and bruschetta as our apps, cheese was great (idk how that could be bad lol) and the bruschetta was full of mushrooms which was different and really tasty. Eventually our entrees came and I was shocked. I ordered the chicken, which I usually don’t do but as it said it was farm fresh and it was expensive dollars so I assumed it would be good. I was so wrong. One of my friends at the end of the table also ordered it and they both looked terrible. Unseasoned chicken breast on top of bland sweet potato puree and a sad smattering of RAW spinach just thrown on top :(. I wish I’d taken a picture of what it looked like as soon as it came out. Once I saw that sad pale chicken I immediately grabbed some salt and pepper. Then I tried to cut into it hoping it’d at least taste nice even though the presentation was bad. I struggled because it was dry and also very cold. Which by the way everything we got was cold and I think it had something to do with the fact that all of their plate ware was plastic . I’m sure it’s hard to keep food warm or under a heat lamp with its on sad plastic plates. Farm to table expensive food on PLASTIC! Very disappointed. I looked at other reviews and a lot of them from the past few months have had the same issues as I did. It seems like they used to have incredible food but clearly somethings changers I think this place could be really special again because of the farm to table aspect but they realllllly need to work on the quality of the food and the presentation.

My husband and I visited for our anniversary dinner and we were not disappointed. I’m dairy free so I usually search for vegan options. I had the mushroom and apple main dish with mash and vegan gravy and my husband had the ribeye. The steak was cooked perfectly and we divided our meals because both were so delicious. It’s rare that we prefer the vegan options and here we did. I also got a vegan desert and it was amazing too. Thanks for the wonderful dinner!

Food tastes amazing, they know how to use good ingredients and great preparation! The servers are lovely and knowledgeable about the menu, a very friendly place! Love love love the old building and that they kept the antique elegance instead of renovating it into another white minimalist nightmare. Highly reccomend the salmon, definitely coming back

We were sorely disappointed in our meals.
For the price we paid the quality of the food was truly unacceptable. Let me also preface this with, we are not picky eaters and we love going out. I also am not one to leave bad reviews, but I don’t want this happening to someone else. My husband ordered their
“chicken wings” as an appetizer and received ONE single small wing. I ordered their stuff mushrooms and also received ONE, not even a big, mushroom. My friend ordered their Alaskan sockeye entree and asked for it to be cooked medium rare, but it was cooked medium and had no flavor whatsoever. It was just dried out fish and not a very big serving of it either. We couldn’t even taste any salt or pepper on it.
My husband ordered their beef strip and the meat was weirdly chewy and left a weird after taste. We were concerned on what type of meat it was. I had their risotto and I don’t know what I got. But I could not get it down. None of us at my table could choke down my entree. My brother got their bison brisket and it was the better meal out of the others, but wasn’t anything special. And tasted just like any typical brisket, which again was disappointing considering the money we paid. We each got a dessert and we liked those. Their apple rum cake was yummy, but again their quantity is very small. It was a very small cake. Others at my table got their chocolate tart and again it was very tiny, but wasn’t terrible. Just beware you pay a lot of money and the food isn’t worth it. We will not be back

Have been to the bistro several times. Recently went for dinner and the experience has taken a hit. Portions were smaller, you will not have leftovers. Food quality was good but not great. Between those 2 things and still paying the same price, I will be more hesitant to return. I certainly get the impact of inflation in recent years, but thst should not affect quality.

Service was still good even when it’s hard to find good help these days.

Still a great menu selection for all kinds of diets. Love the farm to table.

Tables seem more packed together, could be just perception. There was no such thing as a private conversation.

You can no longer park across the street. No problem in good weather but you will have to track down a parking spot.

The history of the restaurant was truly fascinating- from a grocery store in the 1800’s to a pharmacy, a speakeasy, health store to a restaurant nowadays… The food was exquisite and the drink menu quite interesting!

The atmosphere is slightly upscale, pleasant, and maybe a little more old fashioned. Cloth napkins and stemware.

The food has been pretty good, and on specifically one or two occasions it was very good.

The prices are a little on the higher side, the portions were reasonable, but you probably won’t have leftovers.

Not a frequent staple place in my rotation, but if you haven’t been it is probably worth giving it a chance for a special occasion.

They do a weekly community table, four course pre-fixe dinner with the owner. Including optional wine or mocktail pairings. Worth checking out for a special occasion if you are feeling social.

Read the reviews and was excited to experience a Victorian renovated restaurant. Not sure when it was renovated, but it’s not what I was expecting. Had the biscuits and mushroom gravy. I wasn’t ready for the heavy flavor of mushrooms. The bacon was delicious, and if you’re there, definitely try the bacon. Full of strong pepper and maple flavor. My husband had chicken on biscuits and gravy his chicken wasn’t cooked all the way. Service was good, the waitress was friendly.
