Our table was waiting for us since I called ahead and requested seating for our odd numbered group of five. Warm chips and a very tasty and tantalizing non-chunky salsa soon appeared. The salsa was more of a rough textured puree of tomato, onion, chile, spice and….? Delish. It was margaritas all around and were happy to agree that the drinks passed the “booze test.” Unlike lots of other Mexican places, here – yes, you could taste the tequila! Our meals were delivered correctly in good time and were hot and attractively presented. The unique Mexican decor provided an attractive backdrop. A thoroughly enjoyable evening out.

Food is very avg for Mexican American. Plate was super hot but the beans were room temp and the filling for the burrito and enchiladas were room
Temp as well. Chicken was super dry and not fresh.

I am not happy to write this as I have been looking forward to this place opening.

We ordered 4 items and 2 sides as a takeout order. I know when ordering takeout there can be complications but not like this…

We were excited for the Elote which says “on the cob”…it is a tin full of corn and there has to be more mayo than corn. I had the tacos De Alambre. I love salt but WOW that was wildly salty and none of the ingredients were even close, to fresh they seem to be room temperature, tough and dry. Now I don’t have dietary restrictions but the cross contamination does raise concern. My steak, bacon, chorizo and cheese tacos also had sprinklings of chicken and corn throughout. For my side I had the Sopa Azteca. It was not even room temperature. For the other entire we had Carne Asada Tacos….CARNE ASADA how we managed to end up with pineapple and chorizo in the tacos is beyond me. The refried beans as a side were about room temperature maybe a little over. The third was a chicken quesadilla which looked more like an oversized chicken taco covered with queso.

Now I feel like it is also worth mentioning that I was told it would be 15 minutes. I showed up in 9 minutes and we live very close by so none of this had enough time to cool off to the temperature at which I tried to eat them. It is also worth noting that there were 0 other people in the restaurant so it’s not like it should have been rushed. Yeah

All of this for a $54 not including the tip I left.

Disappointed.
Corner Tacos meat was good but they didn’t have the toppings, nor the Iowa Steak dish. Steak Tacos were dry. The onions and cilantro that came with the tacos was not fresh.
Cheese in the quesadilla was not melted. Rice is meh. Melting chimi was good.
14$ margs that were mostly ice.
My blood orange marg was made with grapefruit and no orange.
Server was so slow and obviously didn’t want to be there.
It was ice cold in there.
Renovation is pretty.

Our weekly “Breakfast Club” of six members chose Blue Agave Brunch & Dinner this past Wednesday.
“Elegant Mexican” came to mind upon entering. The staff was friendly, the decor was colorful and sparkling clean. The music caused one of our members to dance to his seat !
The menu was extensive with several breakfast items available.
Our food was delicious… most ordered some type of breakfast burrito, the portions were large and the coffee was nice and hot.
I enjoyed the Blue Agave Burrito, which was excellent!
We all agreed that we will be back…soon!

Was excited to try but was highly let down! Food and service were both terrible. Then after drinking my soda I had the pleasure of finding a dead bug stuck to the inside of my glass.

Absolutely amazing. The decor is incredible- it’s bright and colorful- the murals are gorgeous and the texture on the walls makes it next level- it’s all just beautiful. And then there’s the food- delicious, just as I assumed it would be based on their other locations. The menu is huge and I simply don’t think you can go wrong. I had a chicken burrito bowl that will likely be three full meals for me- so much food! It was VERY good. And the drinks- the drink menu is nearly as big as the food menu!! They make phenomenal drinks- the watermelon margarita was one of the best margaritas I’ve ever had- and it was SO pretty. Lastly, and quite possibly most importantly, the service. The staff was all very welcoming and attentive and the service was super fast. You definitely have to try this place!

Let me start out by saying this place is GORGEOUS. The restaurant’s decor is eye catching, unique and definitely leaves a “wow” factor; it’s very different from most restaurants. You can see the effort made in putting this together.
Secondly, the staff was friendly, attentive to all our requests, and brought things in a timely manner.
Lastly, the menu had a good variety of options, and food came in fresh and hot. Also, the dips and salsa with the freshly made chips are a must have. Give the margaritas a try! Delicious!
It’s a place worth trying for sure.
Thank you for a pleasant visit, Blue Agave.

The tacos were amazing! Unique flavor combinations and high quality ingredients. We’ll be back! Love the passion fruit margarita and the tacos la Paz. Definitely on the spicier side for Des Moines Mexican options, but I’m not complaining!
