According to a new Facebook post, Blue42 Sports Bar & Grill, located at 629 Ellis Blvd NW in Cedar Rapids, will soon become a totally new bar.

I went there on a Monday night with some friends. The place wasn’t busy but wasn’t empty either. I ordered something that looked interesting, their pulled pork egg rolls. OMG, they were fantastic! One friend ordered the buffalo chicken wrap, which she said was really good, the other friend ordered the chicken sandwich, also very good. Prices were mid-tier but the taste was excellent. Heaven, our waitress, was attentive, had our orders correct, and was very pleasant. I will be back.

Portions were nice. Service was friendly and attentive. Burgers were over done and slightly burnt. Sweet potato fries were burnt. Nachos had little cheese and chicken was over done. Not recommending any of the food choices above. Pretzels were good. Chicken fajita wrap was decent.

Never stayed inside so I can’t speak to the atmosphere or the bar. But the food is always on point and excellent. In the top 3 choices for some bar food in Cedar Rapids! And they always get the food out really fast, I don’t think I’ve ever been told more than 15 minutes.

I’ve never been more disgraced as a customer of any establishment. We arrived and after being ignored for 10 minutes, by the bartender, we sat at an empty tables. About fifteen minutes later a waitress greeted us and asked if we wanted drinks? At that point we ordered drinks and food. Soon after the food came out and it was good as always. Through out the night the waitress came by asking if we needed anything and I appreciated it but at the first I asked for my tab and after over 10 minutes I approached her asking if I could pay my tab? At that time I noticed my beers were & $1 more than the advertisement on the tables and as I asked I was told the owner decided last minute to change the special and bring the band inside but not in or the special, which said nothing about being outside, but they said nothing for the 4 hours o was eating and drinking there. After I paid and decided since they charged me $5 extra and told me nothing I tipped Accordingly. While leaving the “Head Bartender” yelled across the bar, “Have a great night!” Snidely. I walked back in and asked if I had done something wrong and she cursed me out with words I’ll never say on line and in front of about 30 people I told her I’d never come back and would be in contact with ownership and she said I know the owners and I will too” I’ve never been so mad but more disgusted by the way I was treated at Blue 42. Not by my waitress but the bartender with the dark hair and tattooed sleeves. I’m sorry if you’ve had to deal with this in the past or future.

Poor beer selection. Food was delivered with no side plates for the appetizer, no napkins or silverware. The french fries were not crunchy. Tried it for the “really good” deep fried pickles. Wasted my time and money. Service was slow and it was empty. Bartender was spending more time chatting the 2 guys at the bar than taking care of customers.

OUTSTANDING SERVICE!! Food was hot, fresh, and amazing!! Highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a wonderful place to try. Joe was our bartender and Paul was our cook. Both are very good at what they do. Great job guys was very impressed with my experience here today, and this was my first time trying it.

Horrible experience. Server was terrific but the bartender was extremely rude. Sold me a beer at 9:50 and at 9:55 the bartender came to our table and said that if we didn’t finish our drinks in 2 minds she was going to take them…. her attitude was horrible and I honestly think she wanted to go home. If everyone had to be out of the bar at 10 PM, why are you so serving at 9:55?? Thankfully she showed me the door. Won’t be back here anytime soon!
