Visited on a Saturday night. They had live music, which i really enjoyed
Service: our waitress was wonderful. Friendly and attentive
Food: from the hush puppies to the tuna steak and chicken pot pie, it was all very good…. no fan of the state/local taxes though. Almost as bad as Canada, but I know it’s not the restaurants fault.
The whole vibe of this place is much more casual than their menu suggests. That’s not horrible, but we expected a different caliber of service & ambience
It took our first drinks 25 mins to get to the table. When their signature cocktail I ordered wasn’t my style, I ordered my usual from a different food server and received it in two minutes. Pretty sure we were forgotten for a hot 25 mins.
The ambiance was lacking in this back area. There was a stage with a talk show set / living room set on it, ESPN was playing on a huge pull down screen above the stage, and a small room screen trying to conceal the much larger stage behind it.
The food wasn’t bad, but I think our expectations were higher for the price
Starters:
– Calamari: This dish was a standout. The calamari was fried perfectly, with a well-seasoned batter that added a delightful crunch. Definitely a must-order.
Mains:
– New England Fish n Chips: The haddock was delicious! Super meaty and fried to perfection. However, the coleslaw was a bit basic and lacked the crunch I usually enjoy. The fries were just regular fries, not the chip-style I expected, especially after a recent trip to England. Despite these minor points, the dish was filling and satisfying.
– Lobster Roll (Connecticut style):We visited on Lobster Day, so we had to try the lobster roll. For those who don’t know, lobster rolls are served two ways: Maine (cold) and Connecticut (warm). Ours was served warm, with perfectly cooked lobster on nicely toasted and buttered bread. It was a highlight of the meal.
Drinks:
– I tried two mocktails (unfortunately, I forgot their names). They were both delicious, though a bit too sweet for my taste. I’ll opt for something different next time.
Overall Experience:
The entire meal, including tip, came to around $80, which I found reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. Blu Point Seafood Co. is a great spot for seafood lovers, and I’ll definitely be returning when I’m in the area. Best seafood I’ve had so far around.
