Don’t go if you are hungry. Good salsa, pathetic street tacos, regular bar margs nothing like a Mexican restaurant but, that’s not why you go here. Go here because it’s close and has music, shots, and a cool upstairs.

Great ambiance and friendly staff. The food is really good and there are lots of drink options. Really love this part of town. Definitely check this place out!

The classics margarita and I got a strawberry mango margarita. Both were extremely awesome. Service was excellent. I felt at home and I recommend this as a first stop before heading to the square. Up stairs is another hidden beauty.

Service was atrocious, music was crazy loud, first take we sat at literally feel apart in our hands… no help on that from staff, so we just moved ourselves to another table. I ordered shrimp tacos. The shrimp was battered and OVER fried until it was all crunchy, then they put a slaw on top that was more like soup… soaked through everything and the tortillas fell apart, unusable. The company and conversation was amazing though! Thank goodness!

First of all…the staff was excellent! From the moment we ordered all the way up until we left. We received the best service, almost felt like VIP’s with attention from bar staff and Ian Tonroy (who incidently has headlined at Cheatham Street! Ask him about his music…his band is killer! Ian Tonroy & Twice Shy…new album Long Way Down on music apps)! Now, onto the food… so it’s a different atmosphere that seems to cater to the lifestyle of San Marcos. You order at the counter, provide your cell number, and retrieve your food when it’s ready. So it leaves you Manu options as far as seating. From inside and outside downstairs as well as upstairs. There us a nacho bar where you get your own chips and salsa as well as Pico, cheese and sour cream. Bars are located downstairs and upstairs as well. We had the salamander nachos and their tater tot appetizers. Both items together were enough for me and my wife to share and feel like we had enough to eat. You can see, and taste, right away there is a freshness to the food and the ingredients used. The chips are great as well, coming homemade from a location in San Antonio. We truly enjoyed the food. And the atmosphere is lively and very colorful. We will be returning…this is bar far and away better then our visit to a local competitor (that received 1 ☆…industry). Highly recommend Blind Salamander!

Don’t eat here. Too bad SMTX got another college bar. Service is slow and food is crapy. I ordered beef fajita quesadillas and a beef fajita nacho. Both pictured and both less than desirable. They did use real cheese on my quesadilla so that is a positive and my paloma was made well this time. Last time, yikes.

The food was just disgusting. There were gnats all in the salsa and the cook didn’t care to change it when he was informed. The food was gross. You all need to change the oil you fry the fries and tater tots in. The chips and salsa bar was gross too. The cheese was melted to itself and there was only scrapings of sour cream that was watery and crusted to itself. If I could give a 0, I would. I hate that I actually paid for this disgusting food and experience. Do yourselves a favor, just get fast food, it would be fresher and the cooks might actually care about what they are putting out.

Atmosphere and service were fine but the food is comically bad. My potato taco was a handful of tater tots on unmelted cheese. My bean and cheese taco was unmelted cheese with a scoop of unseasoned black beans on top, with the juice from the can.

Amazing place, Amazing staff! One of the best places to go to in downtown San Marcos. Great food and free chips and salsa with a purchase. 2 story cantina with an outdoor bar area to enjoy the weather and have a great time with friends and family. Highly recommend!
