Chicken tenders and margaritas were tasty! They stopped selling tacos! :/ We went for tacos, but it was still good!! Smaller menu than before.. Leads me to believe its more of a bar. It has been over a year since we’d been back. It’s been a birthday place for is after a horrible year. All in all, we had a good time and enjoyed the fresh air and breeze before the late night Thursday cried came in.

We popped in for a bit to eat after our hike and during the mermaid festival. ‍♀️ The street tacos are a perfect eat for a small snack. We had the beef and chicken fajita. I wasn’t crazy about the nachos they are real simple chips, melted cheese with Pico, and a meat topping. I’m used to beans and cheese with a meat topping to be slightly disappointed for not paying attention to the menu. I was hungry. However, i was not hungry enough to eat the nachos. ‍♀️ Thankful for the street tacos Now they have chips and salsa bar, not a recommendation unless you’re a drinker, you won’t be bothered by them. Salsa tasted reside like it was going bad and wasn’t spicy at all. It was more like pace picante sauce. As far as drink go, I wouldn’t know if I didn’t have any. However, my friends seem to be content. Oh, we certainly enjoyed the swing seats at the bar. Would I recommend not really. It’s a cool spot if you’re a drinker and don’t really mind the quality of the food. It’s not a spot I would be coming back to.

The classics margarita and I got a strawberry mango margarita. Both were extremely awesome. Service was excellent. I felt at home and I recommend this as a first stop before heading to the square. Up stairs is another hidden beauty.

First of all…the staff was excellent! From the moment we ordered all the way up until we left. We received the best service, almost felt like VIP’s with attention from bar staff and Ian Tonroy (who incidently has headlined at Cheatham Street! Ask him about his music…his band is killer! Ian Tonroy & Twice Shy…new album Long Way Down on music apps)! Now, onto the food… so it’s a different atmosphere that seems to cater to the lifestyle of San Marcos. You order at the counter, provide your cell number, and retrieve your food when it’s ready. So it leaves you Manu options as far as seating. From inside and outside downstairs as well as upstairs. There us a nacho bar where you get your own chips and salsa as well as Pico, cheese and sour cream. Bars are located downstairs and upstairs as well. We had the salamander nachos and their tater tot appetizers. Both items together were enough for me and my wife to share and feel like we had enough to eat. You can see, and taste, right away there is a freshness to the food and the ingredients used. The chips are great as well, coming homemade from a location in San Antonio. We truly enjoyed the food. And the atmosphere is lively and very colorful. We will be returning…this is bar far and away better then our visit to a local competitor (that received 1 ☆…industry). Highly recommend Blind Salamander!

I will add, if reading through the reviews, a majority of those not in favor are likely college age based on the location and local city population of the immediate area. I’m a huge reviewer of restraints with a long history of cooking. I’m sure experiences will vary, but we enjoyed the visit without question. (Parents of 5 and close to retirement)

Don’t eat here. Too bad SMTX got another college bar. Service is slow and food is crapy. I ordered beef fajita quesadillas and a beef fajita nacho. Both pictured and both less than desirable. They did use real cheese on my quesadilla so that is a positive and my paloma was made well this time. Last time, yikes.

Don’t go if you are hungry. Good salsa, pathetic street tacos, regular bar margs nothing like a Mexican restaurant but, that’s not why you go here. Go here because it’s close and has music, shots, and a cool upstairs.

Good place to come for Taco Tuesday – crispy and soft tacos are on sale then. I come here about once or twice a month. I really like the margaritas. My go to food order is the stoner taco. There is a lot on it so that with the chips and salsa is more than enough for me to eat.

I love the great service here. I always request my favorite waitress Karla. She always has a smile on her face, gives great service and you can tell she takes pride in her work.
