Blanchette were very accommodating to everyone’s needs. We had 1x nut allergy, 1x soy allergy and 1x vegan in our group of about 10. We were given a sharing menu with four courses and we all left feeling very well fed! There were several “food conversions” from our group! People who didn’t previously like mussels have now ‘seen the light’ after this dining experience.
There is an extensive wine list and cellar. Even the house white and house red were to my tastes.
The food was some of the best I’ve had from this type of cuisine although I tend to be a bit sceptical of restaurants in touristy areas. It was easy to find the restaurant and facilities were clean.
I look forward to dining here again and would recommend any one else to do so.
One small note: after sharing two starters with a friend, plus a main, a side, bread, and dessert, I still wasn’t quite full (and I’m a small girl with a big appetite and fast metabolism). Slightly larger portions would make it beyond perfect.
Overall, highly recommended! I’m absolutely in love with this place!
The wine came to the table (white), served in steel wine cooler that wasn’t chilled. We asked for a bucket with ice and we were given some ice cubes to put in the cooler, I can only assume. Obviously that didn’t work as the cooler was too small.
We ordered our food and it all came very quickly. The food was definitely very good, the chateaubriand cooked to perfection, we also had mussels, which we didn’t think were any exceptional however.
When we fished, we were asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu, which we said yes to (given that we were celebrating a birthday) . The menu never showed up, and the waitress came back to the table completely oblivious, at which point we didn’t even bother and asked for the bill.
Overall, even if the food was very good standard and, especially the steak, was super good, the service was a complete let down. Not attentive, forgetful and unaware of how to serve wine in a fresh restaurant.
French cuisine shines here with such great flavour, care, and finishing touches.
The food options are great, and portions are fair. The pea gnocchi is phenomenal!
They have a large selection of wine, but I also highly recommend the cocktails!
Oh, and they are dog friendly. A must go!
We ordered the bread with butter, mixed olives, beef croquettes, the pork belly and the crab tagliatelle with red chilli and garlic.
The bread was superb, and the beef croquettes lived up to the expectations, they were of decent size, incredibly flavoursome and rich, and great for sharing.
The pork belly was very well cooked, soft and full of flavour, and the bacon jam improved the plate by adding a touch of sweetness in addition to the sauces. The best dish was definitely the crab tagliatelle. While one may think that there is not that much crab since it’s shredded, it is in copious amounts, and even the pasta tastes like crab, which is rare to find since many restaurants when cooking with seafood only add tomato sauce and the seafood to the pasta rather than cooking them together. The chilly flavour was perfect, not too much as to overtake the other components of the plate but enough to give it a nice kick.
All in all, would recommend, great spot for a dinner in Soho!
