Large portions, great service, and delicious Creole flavors!

We arrived right around 3:00 PM, just before the dinner rush started. It was quiet when we sat down, but the place filled up quickly with three or four more tables right after us. Despite the sudden influx of people, the service remained prompt, welcoming, and “homely” in the best way possible.

The portions here are generous—both for the food and the drinks! My dining partner had the Creole-style pasta and loved the flavor, and I went with the seared tuna served with mashed potatoes. Everything was prepared perfectly and tasted delicious.

We had a great experience from start to finish. If you’re looking for a spot with a relaxed vibe and high-quality food that won’t leave you hungry, this is it. No complaints at all!

I wish I could remember the servers name for a call out, but I’m writing this review about a week later. She was on the younger side and medium length blonde hair. I think it was wavy or curly.

Traveling through Milton and found this quaint little place!! We throughly enjoyed our afternoon lunch!! Those sweet potato waffle fries were superb as was the chicken salad sandwich. Hubby got the salmon and it was delicious. It comes with shrimp which was also delicious!! Hope we get a chance to go again! Service was great. Nice, friendly hostess! The Bonds from Alabama

Growing up in Pea Ridge, I’ve heard of the illustrious Blackwater Bistro my whole childhood. This was the fancy place in town to go to if you had a hot date, or for before you go to prom. I never made it out, though, until I moved away, got a job, and then came back to visit recently.

I went out to explore downtown Milton some, checked out Blackwater State Park, and got hungry and decided to finally come check this place out for lunch. So we drove up, got a table, and started browsing the pamphlet they gave us of the history of the building. It was a quaint little read.

The restaurant is in an old house that had many different lives over the course of its existence. It was wooden, comfortable, had a nice bar built into it. Very cozy and rustically upscale. The service was also very good. A nice lady that tended to all of our drink needs. Very pleasant. And the food came out in a timely fashion.

As for the food, we started with the The Sampler (A mixture of our house favorites: Artichoke cheesecake, Baguette, Loaded Brussel Sprouts with Shrimp, Coconut Shrimp with Mango Chutney).

This was nice. I love a good savory cheesecake, you don’t see that very often. It was very interesting loading the sprouts with shrimp, but I’ve never said no to a shrimp. And the coconut shrimp were pretty standard. It was a good plate, but not mind-blowing, if you wanna try a different app.

My main was the Creole Crawfish & Andouille Pot Pie (Louisiana Crawfish, Savory Vegetables, Andouille, Cajun Cheese Cream, Puff Pastry).

This is a loose-leaf pot pie. So basically a gumbo with a puffy piece of puff pastry on top. So it’s a lot of fun, but don’t expect a lot of crust with each bite. Super creamy, super Cajun in the seasoning, no regrets getting this.

I also got to try the The Blue Salad (Filet of Beef. Signature Assorted Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Cucumber, Bleu Cheese, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Candied Pecans, Bleu Cheese Dressing).

This was a good salad! Nice and tender strips of filet, funky bleu cheese, sweet and crunchy pecans. I love a nice interesting salad like this. Nothing boring involved. And a ton of that delicious dressing.

Overall, the Bistro was well worth the wait. Good vibes, good food. I’d come back.

The food was great. Service, not so much. We asked to be seated outside and asked for a particular table that was empty but needed to be cleaned. Instead, they put us at the very end in the dark. We waited over 25 minutes from the time we ordered to receive our food and had already been seated for at least 15 minutes waiting on our drink order, which was water at that time. When we were finished eating, we had to track our waitress down to get our bill. They displayed flags out front from all of the Military branches which is patriotic gesture that I really like. When the waitress was going to get our bill she asked asked if we had served or were in Law Enforcement. That’s all good and well, but they also have signs stating no firearms on the premises even if it’s concealed in accordance with our laws. That’s a mixed message. Your place, your Rules. It’s all too bad because the food was really good.
Note to the owner’s response: I’m not sure why you got so defensive when I gave you a 4 star. Your uncalled for response tells a lot about your business so potential future customers will know what type of “Owner” you are. Assuming your times are right, I was off by 3 minutes on the delivery of my food order. I never mentioned the waitress, I said the service in general which includes the people cooking the food. Good to know that you video everything that goes on in there. Maybe you should also LISTEN to it. Optics isn’t everything. Good luck to you, what a shame. I stand by what I said. It’s a review not a complaint. But if the owner runs such an awesome establishment, my review wouldn’t matter anyway.

While visiting a friend in Milton, she was showing me around the town. She stopped to show me the Veterans Memorial and that’s when I saw the bistro. The building itself immediately drew me in. The food was a bonus! We were greeted at the hostess stand by a friendly host and seated on the front patio. The server was very friendly and patient with my questions . We ordered off of the brunch menu as it was a Sunday. After much contemplation, I ordered the French toast. It was delightful! They must use a bakery for their bread because it was called something. It was served that day with a peach compote and a side of mango and honey whipped cream!! Yum!!! I always try the grits when I’m traveling, so I had a side of those. I didn’t want the bowl to end they were so good! My friend ordered the eggs Benedict with the breakfast potatoes. The eggs Benedict was meh, but the potatoes were addicting! To top off the awesomeness of this place, inside were two fellows strumming guitars and singing! I could have stayed all day.

delicious! The steak was cooked perfectly—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The Cajun potato soup was a standout as well—creamy with just the right amount of spice. Great service and a cozy atmosphere made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend!

Absolutely delicious lunch! The Brussels sprouts were amazing, as were the burgers. The fried apple pie dessert was one of the best I’ve ever had. Our server, Madison, was so helpful and sweet! We will definitely be back,
