We have been to Blackstone several times. Our guests last night had not been there before, but were very pleased with the experience. Flynn’s Baked Pasta is always my favorite, but everyone was pleased with their meal. Maggie was a tremendous server. Very friendly and efficient.

Food was tasty but cold (both appetizers & main dishes) Service could have been better but wasn’t horrible. 20% gratuity is automatically added to your bill regardless of service and what I REALLY did not like was NONE of us were given an actual physical check to view & weren’t even offered an electronic 1 to look at. Made reservations for about 20 of us well in advance & I was called last minute by GM to inform me whoever answered their phone did not assign us a section so we all had to sit apart. I wanted to ♥ this place but did not. It was just ok. I would give them a 2nd chance if some changes were put in place.

We were greeted with smiles at the door. Seated in a booth that was very comfortable. I had the seared tuna salad and my husband had the steak. I enjoyed a glass of wine. And because it was my birthday, the waitress gifted a chocolate covered slice of cheesecake that my husband and I shared. Highly recommend and I will be back!

Several steps above the norm. 10 out of 10 for everything we ordered. Savory, unique, delicious. Never boring. We ordered nachos as an example. They were not the normal TexMex type nachos. The chips appear to have been thin cut from a potato and fresh fried. The meat and cheese were exceptional. The breaded fried jalapeños in the nachos were a delicious surprise. As always the meat skewers and the associated sauce doesn’t disappoint. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food. You can certainly pay the same elsewhere and leave with a “meh” feeling. Not at Blackstone. The waiter was very nice and professional. Adds to the experience. Go there for a nice meal or a special occasion.

The burger was pretty basic. The chicken salad had these weird, foamy rice curls on the bottom, which i did not like. Had my favorite fries! Booths were comfy.

Always outstanding service and food. Very busy Saturday night and the hostess sat us quickly. The waiter was very good and enjoyed his job. He checked on us at the right times and made sure we had everything we could need. The teriyaki salmon with cooked spinach was incredible!! Blackstone is always a top tier resturant from the staff to the food 100% the atmosphere is always happy and inviting. Recommend this experience in the Iowa city area.

The food here is Amazing! It’s the most perfect atmosphere if you want to relax and watch a game without the chaos and fast pace of a Buffalo Wild Wings or if you simply want to have a fine date it suits you well for that too! Servers are wonderful but it can be a significant wait at times! I would still recommend for any and all!

Adam was super helpful and great service. Food was amazing. I had pork-chop, and it was huge and seasoned amazing. Mashed potatoes was so good. My kids loved the old faithful burger and the clam chowder.

Pictures below are from two different visits.

Our first visit we were looking for an outdoor seating due to precautions we were still taking from COVID. Late afternoon offers shade from the sun, which is nice.

The first time we went, we ordered salads, Flynn’s baked pasta, cheese curds and French onion soup. All were tasty and we would order again.

The second time we went, we also ate outdoors since it was a nice night. We had the burrata appetizer. I thought it was the dish name but it is actually what the fresh mozzarella ball with cream/Stracciatella in the middle. It is served with French bread toasts with garlic puree, basil, cherry tomatoes, balsamic vinegar and pesto.. When we cut it, it was soft on the inside. The balsamic vinegar was a little strong and I would order it on the side or lighter drizzle next time. My husband had the corn chowder. It’s good but also a little spicy. I had a side salad. Their house ranch is good and their bacon is real.

We shared the satay sampler which is chicken, beef, and shrimp skewers served with wasabi cream, teriyaki, and sriracha aioli. Each had its own seasoning. The steak was great, the shrimp was a little spicy and the chicken was earthy (rosemary or thyme and it was very strong.) The sauces to dip in reminded me of sauces made for the sushi. The combo was tasty.

We would eat here again, maybe trying a new dish or two.

We were there to celebrate 2 college graduates. The staff was amazing. The food was good. I would really recommend it. I gave the atmosphere a 4 star because it is decorated in the industrial look and that makes it louder in the restaurant. Especially when it is busy like it was on Friday.
