Yes I am from Texas born and raised. After I moved to Oregon I wanted a taste of home and thought you would to. I opened Blackhat Texas bbq to do what I love doing smoking meat and serving up dishes I grew up on. If you’re in the mood for some smoked brisket, Armadillo eggs (my favorite), BBQ Doughnuts, come on down.

Blackhat Texas BBQ is phenomenal. I had the brisket and the Armadillo Egg — both were top notch. The brisket had that perfect smoke and tenderness, and the Armadillo Egg was packed with flavor. I’ve had BBQ all over the world, and this ranks toward the top of my list. Chris also delivers great service and clearly cares about his craft. Located right outside RimRock Taphouse, it’s an easy stop and absolutely worth it.
