My wife and I decided to try the tasting menu because we saw such good reviews. It was pretty incredible. It was definitely an amazing experience and I would recommend it.
My only negative is the portion size of the strip entree. The tasing menu is fixed but you can choose between chicken or strip for your entree (or a 30oz rib eye to share).
There was no weight given for the strip, but for $20 extra it definitely seemed like a smaller portion than the chicken which my wife got.
That being said, it was delicious and amazing. For most normal people it will probably be more than enough food, but if you are a big guy who eats a lot of calories like me, make sure you can steal some of your date’s dinner (like I did).
Can’t wait to go back.

My friends and I have been wanting to try Blackbird for a while since it’s frequently mentioned as one of the best restaurants on Long Island. Given that the dishes are tapas/shareable plates, we were not sure how much we should order as a table of four. Turns out five dishes is a great amount! We all ate from each platter and found each dish to be just as delicious as the next. Also, the drinks were out of this world! I see why this place is revered so highly. My only con is I wish it had its own parking lot for patrons or a better location. However, there is street parking available. Otherwise, I love this restaurant and will be returning!

Absolutely outstanding food. The quality and execution of the food rivals the best restaurants anywhere. Many dishes are plated with a custom crafed sauce to accompany and highlight the natural flavors. The balance of flavors is perfectly done. The wine list is short, but on point. Service is very good. Restsurant is smallish and noisy, but manageable. This high quality restaurant hides behind an exceedingly ordinary exterior in a row of unassuming storefronts. They are a must go when on Long Island.

Above average food prices but excellent quality. The pork chop was perfectly cooked, with the fat rendered very well. Pasta we had was creamy and rich with flavorful spiciness, and al-dente to perfection. Drinks were good and fairly priced. Ambiance was quite nice. Service was good and not over-bearing. Menu options were a good spread for every palate. Recommended!

First time to the Blackbird and enjoyed the best dining experience in years. 5:00 PM reservation, surprised to find the restaurant with full seating so fast. Our party of four were guided by Susie (I believe) with cocktail recommendations followed by starters and a bottle of wine. Chickpea Spiced Hummus, Mussels, Kale Caesar salad and Montauk Tuna. Followed with main course of Pasta, NY Steak, Green Circle Chicken and Peking Duck Breast. All prepared and presented to perfection. So nice to leave a restaurant with such a positive experience. Great Job. Happy Holidays. We will be back!!!

Four of us ate. The food was OK, the service was good. We had 2 apps, the wings and the coliflower which was especially small. We had a beer and a mixed drink. 3 mains. The burger was fine but a bit small, and the small dish of gnocchi was tasty but over cooked to mush. My son’s steak was very good but for $65, it could have had more food on the plate. I had a salad, a small salad. The family shared 2 desserts. My wife and I drank water…..$300 after tip? For a pub on Merrick road? Never again!

Blackbird Kitchen & Cocktails is hands-down our favorite restaurant and one of the most special dining experiences on Long Island. This place brings seasonally inspired, creative cuisine and exceptional cocktails together in a way that feels both elevated and comfortably welcoming — the perfect spot for date nights, celebrations, or just a memorable evening out.
From the beautifully executed small plates and handmade pastas to the meticulous craft cocktails and thoughtful wine list, every meal here feels like a treat. The atmosphere is stylish and intimate, with a lively but refined feel that makes every visit feel special. Locals and visitors alike keep coming back because of the consistently excellent food, service, and vibe.
What really sets Blackbird apart is the passion behind it. Chef/Owner Chris and his partner Frank are some of the best restaurant operators we know, and their commitment to quality and hospitality clearly shows in every detail — from the menu to the service and overall experience.
We love Blackbird so much that it’s inspired us to explore their other restaurants too — like Uncle Frank’s right here in Wantagh and Rustic Root in Syosset — because anything with Chris and Frank at the helm is worth checking out.
If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and go — Blackbird is unlike anything else around, and it truly shines. ️ ✨

We’ve been coming here for years. I’ve introduced family and friends to this restaurant. The food is consistently fabulous. The service is always great and their drinks are fresh and delicious. We’ve tried everything on the menu. This place is perfect for date night. It gets very packed on the weekends. Reservations are highly recommended. We enjoy how cozy it is and how warm the lighting is. Can’t say enough about how great this spot is!
