So we got referred here by my fiance, we were on the way south of i44 near Springfield, MO and decided we needed food. So we stopped here and its right in the heart of downtown next to rt.66, the atmosphere is amazing with a great 80s playlist. The waiter was amazing, kayla i believe was her name. She suggested a few menu items so thats what we tried, the food was cooked in a timely fashion and presentation was great. The burgers are definitely the best i have had at any restaurant ive been too, no joke. They melt in your mouth with flavor and juices, the sauces that are homemade are amazing along with the fries. The Elvis shake was great as well, top 3 on my list. I definitely wanna return here to try more items on the menu. I highly recommend coming here for your route 66 trip or if your in the area, you wont be disappointed. The costs for everything i thought was cheaper than most places and the overall customer service is top notch, very clean bathrooms too.

Visited from Kansas City. This place is legit! The burgers are so delicious. The fresh pickles are amazing! I’ve been craving their burgers since we left. Definitely going back!

My spouse and I stopped here while driving through and it was delicious! We got the truffle Parmesan fries, which were good but being able to try all of the sauces was the best. My spouse got the blue cheese burger and I got the mustard one (they had cute names but I do not remember them). Vibes and service were also good even if it was busy.
Would stop in again

5 Stars! Burgers were amazing! Fries were also great. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was cool.
I don’t give out 5 stars often. This place is definitely worth stopping in for a bite to eat.
Grab plenty of napkins, the burgers are messy, but worth it.

Black Sheep Burgers & Shakes – Springfield, MO

The Truffle Fries Were So Good… I Told the Chef I’d Be Eating Them in Heaven.

If you’ve ever wondered what the hype is about at Black Sheep Burgers & Shakes in Springfield, MO — let me tell you, the moment we walked in around noon, the aroma alone made us believers. The kitchen crew was cranking out their famous Triple Truffle Fries, and honestly… shoutout to the chef because those fries could convert anyone. I joked that these would be the fries I’d eat in heaven — they were THAT good.

The restaurant was lively, a little dark toward the back (had to squint at the menu ), but the energy was great. We came for their Snake River Farms gourmet burgers, but our server let us know patties were temporarily out and someone had literally gone to buy more. So we snacked on truffle fries while we waited.

We ordered the Born in the U.S.A., The Foodie, and It Must’rd Be Love — bold flavors, fun toppings, and all very photogenic.

✅ Pros
• Outstanding service — friendly, honest, and communicative.
• Triple Truffle Fries = life changing ✨
• Creative, chef-driven burgers using Snake River Farms beef.

⚠️ Cons
• Burgers were very rich, with sauces that made the buns slippery. Prepare for a messy meal.
• The richness left us too full to try the famous shakes (next time!).
• Back area is dim and menus can be hard to read.

Pro Tips
• Get Triple Truffle Fries — non-negotiable.
• If you don’t love super-rich burgers, ask to go lighter on sauces.
• Sit near the windows for better lighting (or for menu reading ).
• Go earlier rather than later to avoid shake sell-outs.

Black Sheep is loud, fun, indulgent, and full of personality — the kind of place where fries steal your heart and burgers leave a memory. Even with the saucy chaos, I’d return for those heavenly fries.

Come hungry, come curious — leave with happiness.

Amazing burgers! They have gluten free buns for the burgers, and the server was very knowledgeable about which items were gluten free.

Sadly the fries are not gluten free. However they did make a regular chocolate shake for my son. They cleaned out the machine to prevent cross contamination. The shake was delicious!

Overall great food and very knowledgeable and friendly staff!

It’s also located in the historic downtown, which is a very nice area.

Jose was absolutely incredible- super nice; though some of the other folks didn’t seem too keen on being there. The place is decorated beautifully, but the floor was incredibly slick (they were obviously aware as random floor mats were everywhere – but the humidity on a 40° night or something was making the floor like an ice rink). This place was a bit pricier than I expected and I guess that’s totally cool if you’re prepared for that. Our daughter had said it was recommended to her, so we went in blindly.
The menu is 1 page of food and the other side is drinks. My kiddo thoroughly enjoyed her mocktail. We ordered the apple smoked fries but didn’t detect any smoke flavor. The seasoning was good but the batch was a bit overcooked. Burger was cooked perfectly but they all have a collection of aiolis on them, or other options (might consider building your own?).

Black sheep was good as I had hoped! We were taking a trip, and this was a stop on the way. You step inside to a great atmosphere and are kindly welcomed. They have burgers that are different, which sets them apart from every other burger place. They have traditional too, but they offer great French fry choices too. Great sauces as well. They have an array of shakes, with or without alcohol, ours were without since we were on the road to another destination.

Black Sheep is a great choice. Menu is perfect for any burger lover!
I had a gluten free bun on the bacon burger. It was fantastic! The onions were way overdone so if you don’t like onions make sure to ask for none. If you don’t mind onions or like them but don’t want them to over power the sandwich then definitely as for light onions.
The bacon was really good on the burger! My grandson got the Parmesan fries and the bowl was HUGE! He loved the fries and he is only 18 months old.
The service was great, however they served could have given us a refill much sooner than he did. Our glasses were completely empty for a while, but he was still a great server. Super nice.
We will definitely be back!

me and my dad were super impressed, and we decided they were the best burgers we’ve ever had. They were also super super cheap for how good they were!!! only 11.99 for each burger! I truly cannot put into words how good these burgers were, and the employees are extremely nice. the only problem i have is that i don’t have this place near me at home i love you black sheep burgers, and i hope they make it big one day.
