The entrance is like a speakeasy – small door, down a flight of stairs into a dark room with a large bar – fun. Two drinks we really fun – the smokey nightly special and the hibiscus happiness. Both were excellent. We bypassed the octopus and ricotta dumplings and jumped right into dinner – the bistro burger and the walleye. Both were nicely presented, hot and delicious. I upgraded to the fries – super thin & crispy. The potion was large enough to be shared. But it also doomed any chance of trying for desert. We will be back, try more items, and be more strategic so that warm brownie can make an appearance.

Such an amazing place. I don’t know where to start…it was an average -5 degree day and we walked in to the back door and followed the picture of the black rooster down the steps below. We went through the black velvet curtain to our reserved table and the rest is history. An amazing waitress, atmosphere, the drinks….don’t get me started. I called the next day for the recipe of the old fashioned and they gave it to me! I 100% won’t be able to do it justice but my God was it good. So was the Paloma, proper lady and the something berry much. Now we get to the food….A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. As if the drinks weren’t enough the food came, perfectly proportioned and every bite was better than the last. Every bite meant something. Every meal was so thoughtfully prepared. So good. So amazing. 1000% we will be back. I just hope I can attempt to try to make your amazing old fashioned.

I have been to Black Rooster Bistro several times over the last few months. It never disappoints. I’ve really enjoyed the charred Zucchini Appetizer that has been available recently. The Long Bone Pork Chop is incredible over a bed of crispy potatoes. My Favorite may be the Grilled Lamb Dish with the fried green chic peas. I really appreciate their attention to details on each dish. Also the changing menu and using many locally sourced items is incredible. Can’t wait to get back for my next great dining experience!!!

Black Rooster is a winner. 4 people each with different fare. One is vegetarian and I forgot to say something when I called for a table. Which, call them if you want reservation. We were seated promptly without wait. Water delivered right away followed by wait staff for drinks. I had Catch Her in the Rye and it was excellent. So I had 2. Others had cocktails and they were all very good. They have a great menu but also specials you may find featured on FB. For hors d’oeurves we had a special item andthe ricotta dumplings and mushroom soup. Both fantastic. The vegetarian had a great pasta made on the fly. If you tell them in advance when getting a table they may have time to be even more creative. If I can say anything about everything, it’s that each dish, concoction, dessert was creative and exciting for the palate. Another had the scallops, one had duck, and I had walleye with crab topping. Think stuffed lobster from your favorite seafood restaurant and this is the gist. I’m from the North and I get demanding with my walleye because nobody can prepare it as good. Well, my mind is changed. For dessert we had the strudel and butter cake. Didn’t leave without trying at least one of these. The soup and strudel are carryovers from the former Winzerstube and I might say they are both equal or better. Overall this was a great meal for all. “Gastronomy Domine” it was.

A hidden gem tucked below Main Street in downtown Hudson. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere felt cozy yet elevated.
We started with the Beef Tartare, our first time trying it, and it blew us away. The tender beef paired perfectly with horseradish, cheddar, and tangy cornichons, while the crispy chips and brioche made each bite irresistible. For the main course, the Shrimp Fettuccine was outstanding—fresh homemade noodles, plump shrimp, and a spicy chili butter sauce layered with herbs, peas, corn, and green onion. Simply unforgettable.
Cocktails were a highlight as well: the Cherry Mule, Meritage Sour, and Campfire Old Fashioned were all balanced and beautifully crafted. We finished with the Budino, a decadent peanut butter and chocolate dessert with pretzel crumb that felt like a refined spin on a Take 5 bar.
From start to finish, Black Rooster delivered a memorable dining experience—welcoming, flavorful, and worth every visit.

We Came here for our anniversary tonight and it was incredible! Our server Natalie was amazing, very helpful with suggestions on the menu for food and drinks which was super helpful since we haven’t been here before. The Dumplings are delicious, The Glazed carrots were unbelievable, definitely the best carrots I’ve had, perfect flavor and texture. My wife got the lamb and it was cooked to perfection and the flavor was spot on! Natalie talked me into trying the special Pork chop which isn’t normally on the menu and man am I glad she did!! This was by far the best pork chop that I have ever had at any restaurant!! The crust on the chop was to die for and the sweet potato mash was perfect seasoned with the spinach and the walnut topping!! I could eat this pork chop everyday it was that good!! Rick and Nicole you guys have an amazing place and staff! This was our first time and it definitely will not be our last!! Thank you for a wonderful Anniversary for my wife and I

have wanted to try Black Rooster since they opened and finally had the chance.
I have to say my wife and I both had a fantastic experience.
The atomosphere was a pleasant surprise. The previous restaurant that was located in this spot was dark and dated. Great job on the remodel and updates.
Food was amazing. We started with the ricotta dumplings and beef tartar. Both of these could not have been better. One suggestion, more toast, this stuff is awesome and you are going to want to eat it all. The toast was the perfect way to enjoy this.
Entree’s: Seared Scallops and Short Ribs, both of these we unbelievable. The short ribs melted in your mouth and the scallops could not have been done any better.
Service: Our server Allie (sp) was awesome. Super attentive and took time to explain all dishes and was more the willing to answer any question we had. We also had a nice visit at our table from the owner. It is always great to chat with the owner of an establishment.
Overall this place is a must visit when dining in Hudson. I suggest moving it to the top of your must try list right away !!!!
Keep up the great work and we will be back, SOON !!!

I am so glad that I set up my office Christmas dinner of 26 people at Black Rooster! From the moment that I walked in, there was someone there to take any requests that I might have had. Our servers as well as the owner took every request and provided results very quickly. The food was amazing! I had the scallops and cleaned my plate. Drinks were fantastic. I can not wait to go back with my family and enjoy another meal in this phenomenal establishment! Great work Black Roster! Keep it up!
