Our story began in 2008 inside a 160sq ft drive – thru in Beaverton, Oregon. Founded by family, rooted in hospitality, and driven by a desire to bring light to the grey PNW mornings, we set out to build something simple but meaningful – a place where coffee could fuel connection.

I have been to multiple black rocks with this issue but this one in particular, something is not being cleaned. There are floaters of unknown substances in the drinks. Most noticeable with fuels. It’s the ice machine, its the equipment, I don’t know but strangely colored particles should not be floating in drinks…

Ordered 2 coffees through official Black Rock website for delivery. Was charged TWICE for my order even though it did not complete. Got a short message on the order screen that there was an issue with submitting order to delivery service that I was directed to through the official Black Rock website. Support is non- existent. No way to contact store to even pick up order. No phone at store. No live support on business contact number. No email, text, or order number, just 2 charges on my credit card totalling almost $40 for coffee, taxes and tip. Finally found a support link on website. No auto reply to even let me know it’s being worked on. A company as large as Black Rock needs to do better. There are scores of other coffee providers near me, I will use them instead, always remembering that Black Rock stole money from me.

Consistently good quality food, coffee, and speed compared to other black rocks. I docked 2 because I come here consistently, and it’s a 50/50 chance that the barista taking my order has an awful attitude. This is something I’ve noticed with multiple employees. In contrast, the others are very friendly.

Never get drinks right lol how do you mess up a blended energy drink… This one is closest to our house and we drive across town to go to another BR. Wack. We ALWAYS regret coming here. Stay away if you want your order to be correct and taste the way it should.

The staff was quick to get your drinks made and friendly. What is nice is they remember my dog’s name LOL. I prefer to come here over another establishment. Mainly because I can get an extra large fuel compared to a large Drink at the other place where they don’t offer extra large.

UPDATE: 5/10/2019
When I wrote my initial review I had visited this establishment for the first time. I ordered a Teal Fuel and their Freebird Turkey Sandwhich. My order came to about $12. Reasonable right? For a upscale coffee shop, sure.
Take us to three weeks later and I order the same thing, but make my Teal Fuel Extra Large which is $2 more. My bill came to $16.72.
Here’s the breakdown:
$1.00 for tip on the drink
$7.30 for the Teal Fuel ($6.75 plus tax)
$8.42 Sandwich
Now before you get your panties in a bunch over some idiot complaining about price, let me clarify a few things.
1. I was NEVER provided, offered nor did I see a way to print a receipt.
2. The cold case has NO signage about price. Sure I could of asked, however, I had purchased this same sandwhich three weeks ago and it cost me around $5.
3. When I expressed displeasure about the price the clerk simply shrugged her shoulder and said the sandwhich was about $7. She DIDNT EVEN KNOW THE DANG PRICE AND SHE JUST RANG IT UP!
So, yeah, I’m an idiot for writing this update and complaining about price. Black Rock sucks for not posting prices for customers to be able to make INFORMED choices. And for in general, not caring.

Great coffee. Great sandwiches. Womens bathroom in need of attention. Water is scalding hot no matter which way you turn the faucet. Out of seat liners and no toilet paper in dispenser. Toilet not clean.

Fine coffee shop for your general wants and needs. Not a good place to study or read. The music is so loud with pop and rock and overall variety; despite asking to turn it down, they told me they always keep it at the same level

The employees have a sliding scale related to the kindness and friendliness they offer customers when they enter and order, which unfortunately I slid off the rails and go ignored. I would probably buy a cup of coffee a day, with interest in having business meetings here – making my visits worth $3-6k annually to the owner in sales. Another note, is the only time I ordered a specialty drink here it wasn’t prepared in a way that tasted good. The ice melted and the consistency of the ingredients mixed made for undesirable sips. The music is too loud at times for even working by myself. One of the toilets leaks out of the tank when you flush it. The cleaning solutions they use are the same as I have in bar & venue settings, so it smells like an alcohol bar and not a coffee shop / cafe to me.
Positives, worn in seats and one has an outlet nearby. The fireplace exists next to that also.
