Our story began in 2008 inside a 160sq ft drive – thru in Beaverton, Oregon. Founded by family, rooted in hospitality, and driven by a desire to bring light to the grey PNW mornings, we set out to build something simple but meaningful – a place where coffee could fuel connection.

I miss my Black Rock Coffee.. please get Cream De Menthe back!! I had to cheat on my favorite coffee BR and go back to Dutch.. all because they carry Cream De Methe. Yummmm an iced mocha with cream de menthe.. a blended white mocha with cream de menthe… the options are endless!! Awesome coffee shop when you’re looking for an alternative to the other franchises in town. Even though black rock is a big name in coffee like the rest, this local McMinnville location has an independent hometown feel to it.
Coffee is definitely a solid choice along with their energy drink selection. They have also added to their food options recently so they have a decent selection of items to choose from.

Simply the best; better than all the rest! Literally. Their coffee roast is delicious, fresh and fiercely perfect and their sweet morning treats are divine!
This specific Black Rock employs some wonderful girls who work tirelessly to support customers coming in droves.

Coffee and service are both great! Can’t rate the food, because I am only a coffee customer. Also, as far as the atmosphere, it’s a drive-thru, but I can say that I am always greeted with a smile and positive attitude.

My wife and I had talked about stopping by to try them out. Finally, on Valentines day, we decided to stop in. Upon arriving we pulled up to the menu to place our order. We watched the car infront of us get helped, as we waited. The car infront of us left and still we waited. Never being acknowledged, after a few minutes of waiting, I sped off and will probably never give this place a dime of my money.

This is a sit down location with three good sized community tables and metal chairs. There are also four comfy upholstered chairs on both ends.
As always, coffee is consistently good. Their customer service was mixed. There were 6 people who could have acknowledged the customers who were waiting. On the other hand, during other interactions, most were polite and helpful. There was also a training in progress so we know it’s only going to get better.
The food was decent, the wifi was not working, country music and rap filled the room while the volume was at times too loud. Cleanliness should improve. Great potential!

Four failures to open on time this year due to a particular barista not showing up for his shift on time (or at all?). I don’t have time to waste and Starbucks and Dutch Bros are right across the street. It’s not a good look. Disappointing.
Update: So, okay, cranky customer doesn’t get her morning coffee one morning out of many, but here’s another reason to love Black Rock Coffee; they cared about that, and took time to contact me and take steps to make it right and keep my business. Not gonna lie, being up and working at 05:00 isn’t for everyone, and it’s a habit that takes time to learn. I get it. Making coffee to earn a living is already a grind, and for every barista struggling to drag their butt to work to open at 05:00, Black Rock has a dozen who do it reliably day after day with a smile. It’s a skill and people are human beings, not machinery. I’ll definitely keep coming back to this Black Rock, because they care.
