I think it’s ridiculous that a coffee company has a walk-up window but then refuses to use it. They make you stand in between the cars here at this location which is not only unbelievably dangerous and inconvenient to the drive-thru people but the people being told to stand in between two one ton accidents waiting to happen. They have a walk-up window but if you walk up to it they just refuse to serve you. And even if you have a vehicle but you work across the street it’s safer easier better for the environment and more convenient to just walk across the street but you can’t because doing so would be dangerous. The included photos shows exactly what I’m referring to. Fortunately for the person standing behind the vehicle in the first photo the car behind them gave them ample amounts of room. But if that person is distracted or confused or has a medical emergency and decides to slam on the gas she gets smashed between two cars just for wanting a simple coffee and isn’t allowed to use the built-in walk-up window for what it’s used for. The level of ridiculousness that goes into not utilizing a walk-up window for what it’s designed for is beyond any level of stupidity I can fathom.
But Black Rock has amazing coffee so they get five stars for the food.
They get two stars for service because they are great if you’re in a vehicle so I know that their customer service is great but that doesn’t make up for putting people in potentially life-threatening situations just to order a cup of coffee.
The atmosphere gets 1 stars because it is a nightmare and a gauntlet between the Taco Bell and the Black Rock trying to bring a vehicle in here to begin with. It would be a much much easier situation if people could walk up rather than try and get 200 cars in here with only one exit and one entrance

I love Black Rock! Every time I go, the staff is always friendly, upbeat, and adds a positive aspect to my day! Doesn’t hurt they are right up the street from where I live too! Always a pleasure and a joy going there! The coffee and food is always good and just overall a great experience every visit.

My hubby and I have been going to black rocks for years and this is hands down our favorite location! The staff knows our truck so our drinks are always ready – superb service. We moved here last year from troutdale and that location was absolute trash compared to the Happy Valley location. That location needs to take note. We look forward to going here in the morning and we always leave with a huge smile. The only reason I’m giving this location a 4/5 is the parking lot, which isn’t necessarily the staffs fault. But the traffic in and out of here is a joke and I wish they’d expand the parking lot/driveway. Overall, the staff make up for the parking flaws and we love our local br babes (and dudes). ❤️

Regarding coffee chains, it comes down to what you want for”coffee”
If you like tasting your coffee as a latte or Mocha, you WILL taste the coffee, and it is good.
Not so much stuff added that the coffee taste is buried under sugar and chemicals.

New workers had a horrible attitude towards there job. I normally go to blackrock at least 3 or 4 times a month and happen to have the worst experience closest to my place and on my birthday at that. Was refused my normal free bday coffee and given a total and rushed out like they don’t want my business. Will be going elsewhere from here on out. This was the second crap experience I had at this location recently and having them treat me like that today was the last draw. Figured I’d let others know. So they at least get a heads up on these new employees working there.

I ordered a ham and Swiss croissant and noticed they were being kept in a tote at room temperature. These are perishable items and should be refrigerated. I tried calling the store about this but couldn’t reach anyone.
Serving food this way raises serious concerns about safety and handling. Until this is corrected, I can’t recommend ordering these items.
Also, I think they have a bee farm with the amount of bees that are around this place, which is good if you like supporting the environment.

My usual drink is a hot Irish coffee. I’m pretty sure I was given a regular drip coffee with cream and sugar today but still charged for the medium Irish coffee. I couldn’t even drink more than a few sips, it was so bitter and lukewarm. I would have turned around to have it remade but I was heading into work and didn’t have time.
It’s very hit or miss at this location, but I usually don’t have any issues on weekday mornings with my order. Maybe it’s just a different crew on the weekend.
