We visited Black Powder based on the positive reviews we had read on our way back to Florida! Everything we ordered was delicious! The brisket sandwich and brisket plate were both fantastic, and the sides were equally impressive. The Gouda mac n cheese, collards, and tater tot casserole were all top-notch. The pimento cheese and crackers were a great addition, and the pimento cheese cornbread was simply divine. I highly recommend giving Black Powder a try! The staff was also very friendly and attentive. Clean Bathrooms!

Maaaaaaaan, this place was so good. I was skeptical at first because of who recommended this place to me. I stand corrected. I had the smokehouse baked potato with pork with the smoked gouda mac n cheese and BBQ beans. Oh my stars it was so delicious. I need this place to open a location in Raleigh. Im back in line to get more mac n cheese as I type this review. Let’s also talk about how awesome the staff are. Not a drop of attitude anywhere and I love it. First visit and it did not disappoint. We had chopped pork sandwich and brisket sandwich with mac and cheese, hash brown casserole and pimento cheese cornbread. We also got banana pudding for dessert (to go). Portion sizes were generous and the food was soo good!! Went back for seconds but the casserole sold out. We sat outside and enjoyed the live entertainment while we “pigged” out!! We will definitely be back. Delicious food and great laid back atmosphere!

Great bbq. This is not NC style, much more TX and worth a stop. The brisket was good, could have had more moisture, but the ribs and cheddar sausage were outstanding and the beans were great. Prices were good for BBQ. I’ll be back as I travel through the area.

OMG good! Stopped by on a recommendation. So glad I did. Had trouble placing my order because everything looked so good. Ended up getting a pulled pork barbecue sandwich, green beans, and smoked gouda mac n cheese. Everything was FANTASTIC! (The only problem, I think I’ll need to take a nap before I drive home.

Didn’t meet the expectations raised by the good reviews. The ribs were rather dry, and the brisket was good—but that’s about it. The sauces were watery, more like salad dressing than BBQ sauce. It was also surprisingly expensive—$30 for a relatively small order. Minus one star for plastic-only silverware.

Where to begin? Went here for the first time and didn’t know what to get because of all great options. The staff recommended the best options to start off. Every single order from starters to desserts were made to perfection. I wish we had enough room to try everything else. Definitely will be coming back very soon. I never write reviews about places but OMG. this place was so good. the workers were so welcoming and nice. i didnt catch the name of the guy who helped us but he has dark hair and i think his hair is long? he showed us all the specials. i got the brisket potato and it was amazing. it was huge so i had to get a box to take some home. my boyfriend DIY-ed a mac and cheese bowl and it tasted amazing. the collards i got were so flavorful.. i was honestly surprised. the apple cobbler was so bomb ESPECIALLY with the ice cream. im taking it home to put cinnamon butter on it and enjoy it in bed. please give this place a try.

First time visiting here and I was not disappointed. The food was good. I ordered a little of everything to try. They cut and serve the meats when you order. The meats all had great flavor and were seasoned well. The macaroni was delicious. The greens were a little too sweet for my liking and could’ve been cooked down a little more. I think for me it would be better to have some type of meal (meat and sides) than buying everything separately. I would definitely return.

What an awesome BBQ restaurant/smokehouse. The food is outstanding, the service is fast, efficient, and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. The place used to be an gas station and has outdoor seating along with indoor seating. The brisket is so good. We also had the fried rice with egg, veggies, and brisket, which was very tasty. This is definitely a place I will try again when in the area.
