Check this place out. Patrons were friendly and chummy. Barkeep—man with the beanie was top notch—made fantastic fruity bevs for the two lasses whom I was visiting. Tasted like a pineapple upside down cake!

The service is great! The bartenders are always welcoming. I have a hard time thinking of a drink, I ask them to make me something they enjoy and they never fail! Love the Black Oak!

Best bar in Oneonta. It has been a privilege to be served by a bartender as skilled as Liz.

Black Oak is an awesome spot for a strong drink and a great performance. One of the things I appreciate most is how inclusive they are—they regularly host drag shows that highlight local talent, and there’s often live music too. The patrons tend to be pretty friendly as well. It’s always a good time!

There are two pool tables in the back, and the overall vibe is that perfect kind of dive bar—unpretentious and fun. We love stopping by after a show at the Foothills.

They usually post a few drink specials on the wall, but otherwise, it’s best to know what you want since there isn’t a printed menu (which totally works for a place like this). Make sure to bring cash for your drinks! Luckily they have an ATM if you forget. Also, FYI, they don’t offer food here.

Whether you’re there for a show or just hanging out with friends, Black Oak is definitely worth a visit!

Dark, dank and friendly, just like all the best dive bars should be. The bloody mary was delicious and the puppy behind the bar was adorable.

Affordable beer prices. Wonderful beer selection. Live music on the weekends. Sometimes a small cover, but I never mind paying since that money goes to the band, and since there is a cover the people inside are people that want to be there. Can be more of an adult crowd compared to some of the other bars full of college students. Love seeing live music. This place is great!

This place was crap on a Saturday night. Not that many people there. Bartender was ok, didn’t do bad on a basic rum & Coke but he was pre-ocupied talking to some girl.

Had a damn good night at the Black Oak Tavern a week or so ago. Good prices, good music, and a good bartender. What more could a man want in Oneonta on a cold night in December. Thank you Wayne till I darken the door of the Oak Tavern again.

This place rocks, it’s the perfect dive. Do you want a bratwurst and some punk rock? Don’t worry they’ve got it. An eclectic mix of everything from metal to happy hardcore on the jukebox? They’ve got that too. I’ve heard if you ask nicely they’ve even got good mezcal tucked away somewhere. There’s even a stage for shows and a couple of pool tables tucked in the back.
