The food was good. The brisket was a little dry for my taste. The ribs were pretty good but needed flavor. I added a Bourbon sweet and spicy sauce, and it was delicious. The Bacon was also very good. The customer service was excellent. The lady was really nice. The music was really cool. I wanted to stay and eat there. Overall, it’s probably the best BBQ place in the Twin Cities.

Some of the best bbq I’ve had in Minnesota, no question. I’ve only had a few beef ribs in my life, but I think this takes the cake as the best. Extremely flavorful, juicy, and comically fun to eat

The ribs tasted good and they were cooked well. Nothing to write home about, but we will definitely order them again. The pork butt was so flavorful and obviously the cheapest of the meats – would make fantastic catering food for sandwiches

My reason for a 4 rather than a 5 is due to the dryness of the brisket. Unfortunately, it was some of the drier and chewier brisket I have tasted in recent years, and based on that I cannot recommend it at all. The mac and cheese was also just so-so

Everything else was great, the people were super friendly, and we can’t wait to go back many more times!

Some of the best ribs in Saint Paul. Brisket is delicious, but a bit fatty. Their beef ribs are always sold out when I order, so yet to have them. Their baked beans also come with a ton of pulled pork and are ridiculously cheap for the amount of food you get. Highly recommend this BBQ pop-up

Pros: great folks, great service, tasty ribs and decent sides. Can’t really complain about most of the items we tried. They were all solid. I like that the pit uses local woods. Shows a nice level of care for the craft.

Cons: They don’t trim their whole briskets. I find that this lends itself to an overly greasy product with big chunks of hard fat that can’t render properly. It made the point end of the brisket almost inedible for me. I understand the philosophical and (potentially) logistical reasons for this method. But I was pissed about paying extra for what should be trim on my Christmas brisket.

Unbelievably delicious meat treats! Everything is superb! I had the baby back ribs, the beef spare rib, some candied bacon, and some Smoky mac and cheese and everything was fantastic! The portion sizes are enormous, the service sublime. Get your orders in for Friday pickup! You will not be disappointed

Where to start…

I was informed about this business earlier today from an acquaintance. Was told it’s mostly pre orders, but they do allocate for walk ups. I arrived around 6:30 to a pretty packed parking lot with a band playing and many people chowing down on delicious looking bbq. I was greeted warmly and when I inquired about anything being left I was lucky enough to be told there was a couple of items left.

Needless to say I jumped on the fortuitous opportunity. Pork shoulder and Mac and cheese. I was informed they offer complimentary water and coke (glass bottles, which was awesome) and I was given a portion of candied bacon to try as it was my first visit with them.

The bacon I ate on the stroll back to my car, it was absolutely killer. I was told the only way I’d be sad after trying it is after I took my last bite, this was indeed true. The Mac was very good and had a nice smokiness to it, but let’s be honest the meats are the star and rightly so. I’m historically pretty indifferent to pulled pork, but I thoroughly enjoyed Black Markets version. Their rub is addicting, and the pork carried the perfect level of smoke and didn’t require sauce. I’m definitely excited to try the brisket and beef ribs as I’m personally a fan of fattier cuts, but I’ll definitely be trying all of their offerings eventually.

It’s apparent that there is love behind this food, and a real care for the customers and culture created around it. Not to mention the generosity and kindness of the owner. After my first experience I can confidently say I plan to become a regular. Businesses like this are what makes the food scene in the metro so special.

After stumbling upon their website I had to stop and try their ‘que. I ordered beef ribs and was told they were out. Then I ordered a pound of brisket and a rack of pork ribs. Jill said that the beef ribs were gone very quick and to be sure to order ahead via the website. Robert said the rack of ribs we were getting was HUGE. It was the biggest rack of pork ribs I’ve seen recently.
When I arrived home the wife said it smelled good and was looking forward to trying it. When I opened the packaging the smell was great. We all enjoyed the ribs and the brisket. Even my four year old liked it, and he’s usually difficult. It’s good enough that you don’t really need sauce but try it with your favorite sauce too.
If you decide to stop by and get some of the Black Market StP fare stop by early or order ahead on the website.
Don’t worry, you’ll like it.

“If you’re looking for an authentic BBQ experience with a fantastic atmosphere, look no further than Black Market BBQ, owned by Jill and Robert. This isn’t just a place to eat; it’s a destination. With comfortable outdoor seating, lively music, and incredibly friendly vibes, it’s perfect for a casual hangout or a family outing. My wife, brother, sister-in-law, and I recently visited and were blown away by the quality of the food and the overall experience. We even brought our own chairs to settle in for the evening, although they do provide seating. Jill and Robert are wonderful hosts who make you feel like part of the community. The food is simply out of this world—you really have to try it to believe it! Highly recommend for anyone craving genuine, delicious BBQ and a great time.”

My husband and I are from Texas and are particular about our BBQ. This is not Texas bbq, but it is unbelievably fantastic. Great crust, perfect marbling, just fantastic. I always over order but I WAY outdid it this time because those beef ribs were so huge. The brisket was so moist. We won’t be going to any other bbq place in twin cities. Loyal to Black Market. Plus the people we SO friendly.

Food was so yum service was docked a point cause on the phone when ordered said they had brisket. But when I got there she didn’t. But in their defense my friend from st paul said you have to order days in advance and I got there 30 min after opening and sold out of 3-4 things. Outside is a smoker with like camping lights so dark but got a fire and chairs but most take it to go. Would get again
