There’s a place in West Jefferson like no other, where you’ll always be welcomed in like you’re a part of the family, and the food is always fresh: Black Jack’s Pub & Grill. Opened by owner Alin Retezatu’s mother, Virginia, back in 2008, her legacy now lives on in everything we do. Our family traditions and Eastern European heritage are reflected in our made-from-scratch recipes, and we pride ourselves in only using the freshest ingredients while we cook everything to order so that each experience here is one to remember. We believe good food brings people together, and we know our community agrees.

Black Jack’s may be at the end of Main Street but it is far from the end of the line. Great atmosphere with lots of sports themed memorabilia. Staff is very friendly. Service was prompt. Bacon cheeseburger was the bomb. Cooked just right. Tater skins had just the right amount of bacon! Soft drinks are $4. We’ll be back to try something else off the menu.

We are visiting the town and had plans to stop at another place but completely happy we changed our plans to go to Black Jacks. The staff is very welcoming, the food is amazing! We ordered the sweet green tomatos which is a simple comfort food. Now lets talk about the burgers, full of flavor, great seasoning, cooked great ( which is saying something because i like a rare burger) it was still a juicy. I think i had religious expierience! Also our server Sarah was amazing. Very attentive and makes a mean old fashion.

Discovering this hidden gem was a dream. It has a truly understated charm that makes you feel welcome. The atmosphere has a casual, relaxed feel. It’s the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a casual meal. The menu includes classic pub dishes with some innovative touches. Everything that was sampled was delicious but the star of the show was the burger.
I ordered the build your own however, I am confident that ANY burger would be delicious. The secret is in the seasoning of the meat. The burger was savory, surprising and familiar all at once. It put a smile on my face and a feeling of satisfaction in my belly.
I would be remiss in my duties if I neglected to mention my server Kaitlin. She was prompt and friendly, but above all had this casual confidence that made the entire experience memorable.

Food was good. Customer service was fantastic. Inside is a little loud so we sat outside, pet friendly. Chicken wings were super crispy and juicy. Onion petals and homemade chips were crispy and wonderful. Overall, one of the top food places in West Jefferson. I’d definitely bring my family back for sure 🙂

Our food was delicious and the service was great. We came to celebrate my mother in laws birthday per a recommendation from another family member and enjoyed our food selections.
One piece of our experience that I do want to mention is a song selection that was played. I know Touch Tunes is used here, and a song was selected by another patron with words that were beyond astounding to play in public. We had our 8 yr old daughter and it was a little unfortunate that the song had to come on. Our server let us know when we found her that it wasn’t able to be “skipped” which again, I understand with the whole Touch Tunes idea. But just sharing that experience as it was definitely a bummer to have played so loudly with a child present. Otherwise, we enjoyed our visit.

We had a great time eating! My son loved his food, too. My burger was $23, and I didn’t realize they charged extra for toppings. Our server was awesome. All in all, it was a good experience.

Kayla, Kayla, Kayla. This was our first time here and we came due to the reviews. You were short staffed and rocked it. Call outs happen but you and your team came through.
Your personality was everything anyone could ask for. You were BEYOND amazing. You owned it. It did not matter how busy you were you took care of everyone and made sure we all got what we wanted. Every detail was covered.
Kitchen staff as well. Excellent service. You are behind the scene but it is not unnoticed.
There may be a wait in this town but sit back, relax and enjoy the hospitality.

Atmosphere was very loud for being mid afternoon on a weekday and not many patrons. Food and service was ok. Burgers were dry, sorta smoky taste to it. A handful of old, cold fries is $5 extra (overpriced food is served with a small bag of lays potato chips). Every extra topping is an upcharge as well. Drinks (tea/soda) were $4 and the tea was barely sweet and barely tea- way watered down. Buffalo chicken pizza wasn’t bad. Kids burger for $3.95 was about the same size as the adult portions. Table was sticky despite the man saying it was just cleaned. One order wasn’t right and when brought to the waitresses attention she just stood there til she was asked to get the toppings it was missing. Service was meteocre and parties over 6 have a 20% included gratuity. Over $200 for 8 of us to have lunch- spent less at higher end places for more food.
