Great service and fairly large menu considering its size. Good selection of alcohol. Shared the massive pretzel, came with two small cups of beer cheese and one with mustard. We ordered the pork schnitzel with potato pancakes and wurst platter. Very well made, wish there was a bit more seasoning. Will be back!

We went here for the first time today and had Macy as our server. We started off with the crab dip with pretzel chips and the huge pretzel, both were a big hit at our table. I got the shnitzelwich with the chicken and it was a huge portion of chicken and kraut, it was delicious! My husband and daughter got the Belgium waffle burger and they loved it, and my youngest got the popcorn shrimp. Macy was very attentive to drink refills and making sure everything was good for everyone. This was a great first visit and we will definitely be back!

Best German food I’ve run across, including Das Bierhalle who the past couple years I’ve observed food quality drop meaningfully.

Best pretzel I’ve had. I’ve ordered it on 6 occasions and every time it tastes the same. Melts in your mouth. Sausages are excellent and conventional food options I’ve had are great.

Beer options are good, but DB has then beat readily on this.

Family run pub in the Kingsville area. This is one of the very few places I’ll travel to for a meal ( typically I am a real proponent of staying super local with establishment choices)

Service is always great, everyone we talk to is helpful and friendly every time. A bit of an older crowd, similar to Red Brick Station.

Black Forest is a German restaurant and bar with a wide selection of alcohol, from craft beers to stronger liquor.

The Food:
My 3 companions and I ordered one jumbo brauhaus Bavarian pretzel to share, and jumbo it was! We split it 4 ways and it whetted our appetite perfectly.

For my main course, I ordered fish and chips. My companions ordered the champagne salmon, the wurstenplatten (sausage platter), and the pork osso bucco (slow roasted pork shank on bacon and mashed potatoes).

The Taste:
My fish and chips were enjoyable. Though the batter was a little TOO batter-y for me, the white fish inside moist and flaky, just the way I like it. The fries were great.

My companions dishes were great too. The pork shank was amazing, the salmon was top notch, and the sausages were good. The spatzle (noodle) that came with both the salmon and sausages was such an interesting side — kinda bland, kinda chewy, but really enjoyable. Who would’ve thunk it? And the red cabbage that came with the sausages were surprisingly yummy.

The Service and Setting:
Our server was excellent — friendly and knowledgeable; she made an excellent recommendation (pork shank). And she was quite attentive, refilling our waters quickly without us having to ask. And the interior had a subtle German aesthetic without being too guady. Plus, it has a live band when we came on a Saturday night.

Note, the parking lot is small and the stalls are kinda tight. If you have a large SUV or truck, be prepared for plenty of 7-point turns

The Conclusion:
Black Forest is a great choice if you want German food or a place to knock back a few beers while watching the game. While the prices are premium, it’s definitely a “you get what you pay for” situation. I’ll definitely return if I get the chance.

What a great unexpected find. Great selection of German beers on DRAFT. Cool selection of German dishes but the burger perfect. Cooked right. Great flavor and who would e thought they would have potatoe pancakes. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

We live close and this is our go to when we want a good meal. Their burgers are great, as are their huge pretzels and brats. We haven’t had a bad meal. And the staff is great! Sandy is our favorite, but the bartenders are always amazing and so are the other staff members.

Food was amazing it was really hard to pick, alcohol selection is also amazing. They have a cocktail with angels envy, hazelnut liquor and walnut bitters. I was skeptical that using angels envy in a cocktail was worth the cost but its the best cocktail I’ve ever had. I’m definitely looking forward to going back and try new food and drink from their expansive selection.

We really enjoyed the food here. The burger was fantastic and they had homemade corn and chicken soup that was incredible. Great beer & whiskey selection. Highly recommend!!

We’ve been here several times. Always fantastic.

The Spaetzel, Pork Pot Stickers, and Pierogi were ok. Good, but we weren’t wowed. The Potato Pancakes and Apple Sauce were great as usual. BUT, the Tomato Basil Shrimp Bisque was truly one of the best soups I’ve ever eaten in a restaurant in my entire life. Full of flavor, velvety smooth, and loaded with shrimp. Well worth the $9.90 price!

I’ll add that our server Kaitlin was sweet, friendly, attentive, and welcoming.
