We eat here alot and have always had great experiences and good food. They often feature seasonal dishes. For example, they have Cornbeef around Saint Patrick’s Day. We love the fried pickles and fried mushrooms. Chicken fried steak is on point with Jalapeño cream gravy. My wife loves the Beef Stroganoff and meatloaf.

We visited this restaurant and found it a bit old-fashioned—definitely in need of a renovation soon. I ordered a peach tea and the soup, both of which were quite good. Unfortunately, the main course (a half rack of ribs), while tender, lacked flavor and was on the dry side. Honestly, if I hadn’t been starving, I might have sent it back.

We also ran into issues with the payment terminal—likely due to its outdated technology—which made checkout a bit uncomfortable.

On the bright side, our server Samantha was absolutely fantastic: friendly, patient, and perfectly bilingual. A real standout member of the staff!

I really hope they work on improving the food and refreshing the overall atmosphere, because with a bit of effort, this place could shine.

2nd visit within a span of a few months.

Was very satisfied with my Charbroiled Chopped Steak during my 1st visit but, wanted to hold of rating after another visit.

This visit, I ordered:
Mushrooms as appetizer
Loaded Tater Tots – 2nd appetizer
and the Mushroom Burger as my meal.
Didn’t forget that superb Charbroiled Chopped Steak so, had an order to go.

on everything I ordered and my other 3 companions were all praises of their choices as well (Chili Burger, Pork Chops and Chicken Fried Chicken).

Definitely, a sure choice for a great meal.

Service is very warm, friendly and fast.

Only little thing was the lighting inside. We went for lunch on both visits and it was hard to read the menu due to very dim lighting.

Still, will be a repeat destination!

I’m in town for work and happened to see Black Eyed Pea while passing by on the freeway last night and decided to come in tonight for a quick dinner. Was greeted quickly by the host and sat at a booth. Riley was our server and was fantastic. He was friendly, personable and prompt. The rolls were hot and fresh, next time I’ll be sure to get cornbread! I got a sandwich and fries and it was great, my coworker got the chicken friend chicken and raved over it. We also got mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and they were so good! Best of all, they had banana pudding and I was able to get it to go since I was full. I wish Black Eyed Pea had locations where I live in Utah because I would for sure be a regular customer. Their menu is vast and has many options and choices. Next time I’m here I’m going to have to try the meatloaf!

Dropped in as the other restaurant was too packed. We were greeted and seated right away. Our waitress came up then and got our drink orders. We felt instantly at home because we already knew Cassie from other restaurants. Our appetizer and my salad came just after the drinks. The salad was fres and the mushrooms were very large and super tasty. Our food came very fast and everything was great!! Thank you for a great experience and food. We will definitely be back. Back again and Thank You Maureen for another great dinner!!

When I eat here I’m always wandering why I don’t eat here more. The food is hearty, hot, good old grub just like the name suggests. The amount of choices in sides alone is really large and I’m sure they are all good. I’ve tried very few because one of the reasons I do go to the black eyed pea is to get the squash casserole. Which is great!
We started off with the fried green tomatoes which tasted fine but were a very small order so that was kind of disappointing.
Black eyed pea offers complimentary rolls with butter and after this visit I realize if you request it they can come with honey as well they were good and hot.
We were there on a Monday so the chicken fried steak or chicken fried chicken was the special and actually it’s literally a special reduced by I think $4 off the normal menu price. I definitely did not see a need to get the full size as the smaller size covers over half the plate. The jalapeno gravy is always great but for me it could be little more spicy but it’s good overall and as I mentioned before my sides included the squash casserole and loaded potatoes. There’s a 99 cent upcharge on the potatoes if you get them loaded which the waitress did not mention.
My husband got the burger which had a huge onion ring on it and was pretty good. I’m not a burger person so don’t know about what standards to judge it. All I can say is hubby liked it and I didn’t mind it.
Old fashioned banana pudding vanilla wafers included was a great way to end the meal.

The only thing was that the waitress didn’t mention that the soup counts as two sides. We were charged an additional charge for the other side and wondered why. Would have been nice to know this before hand because it doesn’t say this on the menu. Oh well. Food was good at least.

Amazing food! We ordered the chicken fried chicken with fried corn on the cob and a half order of ribs, it was all really good! But the DESSERTS were the star of the show!! The slices of cake were bigger than my hand and were extremely tasty! Can’t wait to come back!

I went to Black Eyed Pea to help celebrate a friend’s 60th birthday. There were about 20 people in our party. The service was exceptional. The waitress did not miss a beat. The food couldn’t have tasted any better and the amount of food for the money was excellent. I think everybody in the party ordered something a little different from everyone else. The selection of food was amazing.
I ordered the veggie plate. I had black eyed peas, red beans and rice, squash casserole, macaroni and cheese, and fried okra. There was enough for me to bring home for the next day
It wasn’t overly crowded on the day that we went. It was just a nice relaxing atmosphere and they catered to our party well.
Everyone raved about the service that we received as well as the amount of food and the taste.
Overall, I was 100% satisfied with the experience.
My meal with an iced tea cost approximately $20. But again there was enough food for two meals. Most people went home with a to go box because they could not finish everything on their plate.
We also got plates of homemade rolls served family style.
One party member ordered the chicken fried steak and it was as big as the plate.
Another party member ordered the potato bowl and it was huge. He said it was really good too.

Our favorite place for homestyle meals. Senior menu with slightly smaller portions at lower price, BUT INCLUDES YOUR DRINK. Quality of food is outstanding and regular portions are very generous.
