Hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment the food and drinks hit the table, it was obvious this place has no standards.

The Old Fashioned was an embarrassment. Muddled orange in a drink that the menu explicitly says is made with an orange peel is either laziness or total ignorance of basic bartending. If you can’t get a classic cocktail right, that sets the tone for everything else.

The food was just as bad—poor quality, poorly prepared, and completely forgettable in the worst way. Most of the dishes shouldn’t have left the kitchen. The chicken fried steak and pork chop were the only items that didn’t actively disappoint, and even those were barely passable.

The overall experience was equally awful. Service was lackluster, the execution was sloppy, and nothing about this place justifies the time or money spent. This restaurant feels like it’s coasting and hoping customers won’t notice.

Save yourself the frustration and go literally anywhere else. I absolutely would not return or recommend this place to anyone.

My Caesar salad with roasted chicken was very good. My wife had the bacon Mac and cheese. She liked it and had enough to take home for lunch the next day. Other people in our party ordered off the senior menu and all was good. Nice comfort food all around. An older crowd on a Tuesday night. Relaxed atmosphere, very friendly staff.

Okay so ngl I did feel a little awkward because we were the youngest people in the restaurant and we are in our 40s so that is saying something haha. It did feel like the early bird special retirement community which is fine. My mom worked in nursing homes so I like the elderly. But it did feel a little funny. However looking at the menu I can see why it is definitely an old-fashioned menu and if you are older then you will probably really enjoy some of these options. But young people can enjoy some homestyle cooking sometimes as well haha. What I found is that the service was amazing and all of the food was really good. We were seated by a little old lady who seemed like the manager or perhaps even the franchisee but she was really cute and sweet. And our server was outstanding my husband even commented that he felt bad for her like girl you need to go get yourself a better job I don’t mean to be mean but you could definitely be in fine dining. And when we were getting ready to leave she started boxing up our food for us and I said that’s a bummer you have to do that and she said oh no I just like to do that because a lot of the customers are older so I’m used to just helping them out. Like what a sweetheart. Honestly my only regret is I should have tipped her even more. Like I’m a pretty good tipper but she should have gotten a few more dollars even like my goodness. She was so attentive and nice and good at her job. And I did drive a bit out of my way to go to this location because they had better reviews compared to other options and I can see why because the attention to quality was pretty high for a chain. I rarely go to chains anymore because I feel like people don’t care when they are in a corporate setting like that. But they really care at this black eyed pea. I also love the attention to detail like the rolls and the house salad were really good. It was a perfect compliment to the other dishes and I really loved my salad. A lot of places do not put cheese on a house salad anymore because it is getting to be too expensive so I really appreciate that. It was delicious I wish I had another portion of salad right now haha. I would recommend it to any fans of home style food.

Fails to provide what any restaurant should serve. A tasty and nourishing meal, at a reasonable price.
The food there was greasy, tasteless, and made my brother and I feel sick. We got the shrimp scampi, and chicken fried steak.
Neither were good. Neither tasted fresh. And neither were finished. The shrimp scampi had the quality of two week old Olive garden pasta that had been reheated in a microwave. The shrimp was rubbery and smelled like someone’s sour socks.
The chicken fried steak was similarly awful.

The waitstaff was polite, and affable but that doesn’t excuse the fact that this restaurant doesn’t do the bare minimum any respectable restaurant should be able to accomplish.

To anyone reading the reviews? I say this with no malice, but out of concern for your finances and personal health: Don’t go there it’s not worth your time, or money.

Haven’t visited Black Eyed Pea in a few years. Always been a fan of the chicken fried steak. Just below southern diner quality. Getting back there did not disappoint. They also added stuffed spuds, which were solid. The night we went, they also had a special dessert of Lemon raspberry cake. Worth the calories! I will be going back. Make sure you go with the jalapeno gravy.

It has been a long time since I’ve been to a Black Eyed Pea for lunch, and it was an OK experience. The chicken fried steak was almost all gristle. I was so tired of chewing, and never finding an acceptable bite that I finally couldn’t finish half of the Chicken, fried steak. The waitress didn’t seem to care enough to discount part of the bill after I told her about it. I was disappointed in the low grade of the food that this establishment offers. I doubt that I will return to this store but I will go to other black eye pea Restaurants.

We were greeted by the friendly hostess and seated immediately.
Kennedy was our server, she was delightful and was overflowing with ample knowledge in regards to the options available.
I got chicken fried steak and it was awesome. I chose a salad and mashed potatoes with white gravy for the sides. Plus added a side of Mac and Cheese. Sides were ample and everything tasted fresh.
My date ordered the Pot Roast with a loaded baked potato and veggies.
She was very satisfied with the amount of meat presented.
The manager Heather was visiting tables and making sure everything was perfect.
The restaurant was clean as were the restrooms.
We left feeling full and satisfied and ready for a nap.
This is one of the last remaining restaurants that serve a meal that tastes home cooked. Real comfort food.
Will definitely be back.
Highly recommend.
We hope to have enough room for dessert next time.
Overall experience was excellent.

12/27/22-I was disappointed in my chicken sandwich. It was super dried out. Their prices have gone up, but overall quality is average or below. For the price of the Fried pickles you only got a few pieces, which is sad considering how cheap they are to make. They really need to look at their portions. My mom liked what she ordered, but said it was greasy. The inside of this location is at least cleaner looking then the one on Colorado Blvd, and has a nice modern look where as the other looks ran down. At least this location looks like it is cared for.
