I had a great meal last night. I’d brag about how great it is. And I’m so happy MY Ambridge is thriving but instead I have to pause to say the employees ruined it by mopping the floor and putting the chairs up 30 mins before closing. We wanted to look at the merch but the floor was wet and I couldn’t walk over there.
Also the server tried to rush us out at 15-20 till while we finished gelato, although another party just got a pizza. We both were ring fenced by chairs put up. It closes at nine which pretty reasonable to stay close to closing.
I don’t know if you gave this directive, but it’s bad business. Hire real servers who ask have you been here before… and tell you about any specials – big pet peeve as a former service industry worker

Opening a pizza shop in Ambridge takes balls. You’ll be competing with two of the most long lasting and notable pizza in the whole Pittsburgh area, both less than a mile away. Of course I’m talking about Franks & Police Station. Anyway the pizza at black dog was very good. I love a wood fired style pie. Don’t skip the Gelato- its delicious! BYOB is a major plus and the state store is right across the street. Many places come and go in Ambridge but I’m hoping this one stays.

Food is amazing, love their parma rosa, caesar dressing is amazing and the salad is always fresh, but their large take out salad isn’t as large as one would think; have never dinned in so I’m not sure if the portion size differs in house compared to take out.
Over all good high quality fresh food

Delicious pizza! I’m sad the apple pie isn’t on the menu any longer because it was deliciously different. My husband loved the cup and char
pepperoni pizza.

Visited for the first time this last week and was not disappointed. Atmosphere was light and airy, service was quick and kind, and the pizza: 10/10… I was a little weary about another pizza joint opening in the area, but this is unlike the otherwise, true wood fired pizza similar to one of my other fave spots in Lawrencville, though half the cost and arguably the same quality, if not better ingredients. Will def be making this a regular spot as it’s also within walking distance from our house.
Oh, and though we didn’t bring anything this visit, they do have a byob option for a small corkage fee

Our first time. We had planned to eat in the restaurant. However the only seats available were drenched in sunlight on a hot July day. I’m not sure why they haven’t added blinds or reorganized the tables so they can all be used during sunny summer days. We ordered a Margarita and a meat lovers pizza. Then we waited for the pizzas to go. During that time we watched what you would describe as less than a well oiled machine. The pizzas themselves were good thin crispy crust but not great. The pizzas were a little burnt on top. I think we’ll try again with a simple cheese pizza. Next time we’ll get reservations. The staff was friendly.

I really wanted to give this place a much better review as we walked by it a few times going to the Brewery beside it. We have seen many people with their pizzas in the brewery in the past and they always looked really good. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day But our experience makes us not want to go back or give them a second chance we’ll start from the beginning we arrive. There was a large party that just left and they had to clear tables so the few of us that we’re waiting for our table could get seated in a timely manner, but had to sit in an uncomfortable small two top that made me feel like I was sitting in a food court at a mall we accepted that. We ordered the whip ricotta with olive oil and pistachios that came out in a timely manner looked good was a little sweeter than what we expected, but tasty. The meatballs we ordered showed up shortly after we got the ricotta. Meatballs were good but nothing over top special and before we could even get halfway through our appetizers, our pizza arrived. We ordered the mushroom pizza and added Barrada even before we could get our first slice of pizza out it was already cold. They put it on a glass plate to serve it, which looks nice but they don’t warm the plates up, so the pizza was cold when it reached our table, we had to ask if we could move to another table because we had no room on our table for. They were kind enough to grab the table beside us and pull it over so we could have more space. It would have been nice if we could have just sat at the four top so we had space and felt comfortable and on that note we heard the hostess offer two other tables that arrived after us their choice of tables when we did not have a choice of table. I know this is a small detail, but customer service is a very big thing. Specially when you’re spending $80 for a dinner on a special occasion celebrating a birthday the small details and the quality of food. Just missing the Mark a little bit for the prices. Makes us really not want to try this place again. I really hope they do well. This place just might not be for us and the other thing is they don’t use wood in the woodfired pizza oven. It is just gas fired so it’s missing that slight little taste and if I do try it again, I will ask them to cook my pizza a little bit longer so it’s a little bit crispier
