Our family run business was established in 1997 by Walter Walsh and is now owned and operated by his daughter, Charlotte. As a seasonal ice cream shop, The Black Cow opens every spring and closes every fall. We make 16% butterfat low overrun super premium homemade ice cream in small batches every day. We use only the freshest Vermont creams and finest fruits and extracts just for YOU! Come on in and try it for yourself!

Stopped in with 3 kids to try this place for the first time! We were welcomed with a smile. The owners are very kind and patient, letting us try different flavors without rushing, even when more customers arrived. They ensured everyone was taken care of while allowing us to make good choices to fully enjoy the experience.
I’m very sensitive to overly sweet ice cream, and they did a fantastic job balancing sweetness and flavor. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable with a charming farmhouse vibe. Highly recommend this place!

One of the best homemade ice cream places!
If you want to taste a very organic and homemade dairy, you must visit this place.
I tried Mocha chip and to my surprise, it was sufficiently sweet and not over-sweet at all. Rarely do I see ice cream places cracking this taste of not overstepping sweetness.

Charlotte and Josh are the best. They’re small business owners who make their own ice cream in house. It shows in the way they engage with their customers and how they treat ice cream making in general. My wife and I think they have the best product around. If you haven’t tried them, stop in and see Charlotte and Josh – two awesome people.

This place has a decent ice cream. It was a bit hard than I would have preferred but it is a better than average place to grab your ice cream. On taste alone, I would give it 3.5. It has plenty of parking and a good number of wooden benches to sit. It is as expensive as average competition.
