Good food, great staff, fun atmosphere with lots of classic Arctic cat and snowmobile decorations and pictures. Also a great place to check out if hosting an event and it’s in the back yard of the grand stay hotel.
They also have gluten free buns, no bread but you can order sandwhich items with a bun. They changed the menu a bit and the added some new items however, they removed waffle fries which disappointed me a bit. They are also very stingy on the fries.

The Black Cat Sports Bar & Grill is a true gem in Thief River Falls! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff made the whole experience top-notch.
Paul, the cook, deserves a huge shout-out — not only is he friendly and personable, but he also knows his way around the kitchen. The food he served was hearty, flavorful, and the kind of meal that makes you want to come back again and again.
Al, the owner, was equally impressive. You can tell he takes great pride in running a tight ship. His presence really sets the tone for the entire restaurant, professional, yet approachable.
On the service side, Caleb and Brandy were both outstanding. Attentive without being overbearing, quick with a smile, and genuinely invested in making sure our experience was the best it could be. They both went above and beyond in their roles.
The location couldn’t be more convenient, right between two hotels. Honestly, you don’t need to look anywhere else for a great meal in Thief River Falls, because the food and service here check every box.

Great atmosphere so much history on the walls. The fries were fantastic deep fried Pickels were the same. Daughter had a jalapeño burger it was great. My wife had a steak well done with mushrooms I had the same except with onions and medium rare. Steaks were not that great very bland with no flavor the cut was very tough. Well done on the outside rare on the inside. When you buy a steak you want one that is better then one you can make at home. Potato’s were good just bring up the flavors more. I just wish they made the steak like they make there burgers. I always try to be fair when leaving a review. I hate giving out two stars. Thanks for everything.

Great gem of the town. If you meet with someone from out of town and they ask where to go, always say the black cat. Also they have pull tabs so thats always nice

First time here, the chips and salsa was GREAT, perfect amount of salt on the chips and the salsa was fantastic. I had a burger, maybe called The Prowler?? With bacon, jalapeños, cheese, cajun seasoning, and some sauce… very good choice!!

Nice atmosphere good place to get a reasonable priced drink. The steak was cooked perfectly. It did take a little bit to get our first round of drinks but after that they kept them coming pretty well. The onion rings I was not a fan of the breading but were not bad.

Been coming here for a few years now ever since I moved to town. Service is great (hi to my fave bartender AnMarie! You’re a nice lady!) Food is always solid; your typical bar food but it’s always consistent. Atmosphere is great! Laid back, welcoming vibe unlike a lot of other joints in town. Prices are good. Like that they have the bonus hole and pool tables, too. Will be continuing to come back here time and time again. 5/5 stars! Only thing negative I could say that is a bummer is that they don’t have their amazing waffle fries anymore -sad face- lol

Came here while visiting family and I was not disappointed. The EMT burger is an absolute treat and the cheese curds were amazing. On top of that, the place is oozing with atmosphere thanks in part to the numerous Arctic Cat memorabilia and decor.

We made a trip from Wisconsin and ended up stopping here, as it was one of the places me and a buddy have always heard of and wanted to try. Being Arctic Cat enthusiasts, we loved it. There are plenty of old pictures and one of a kind memorabilia.
We got a couple of burgers and a beer. They have a decent selection of burgers with different combinations of toppings. They were on par with any other bar food I’ve had. Would definitely recommend to try it out, and I would come back to try a different burger.
