The Nutella spaceship is a unique experience. It has everything I want in a sweet pastry. I’ve only ever gotten this and a plain croissant and these alone give me confidence that every single item they sell is fantastic.
The spaceship is a roll of croissant dough thats been proofed and baked into a unique shape with Nutella in it, dipped in white chocolate then shortbread crumbs. Topped with brownie bites. It is chocolatey, flakey, stretchy, salty, buttery goodness. Absolutely in love.
The lamination on this thing is so consistent and perfect, really an impressive and tasty creation.

Black Box Bakery has always lot’s of delicious items. They make all their baked goods fresh. It’s one of my favorite bakeries in the denver metro area. During the week the options are a bit limited. So it’s best to go on the weekends when they have to most to choose from. But most likely you will find their a huge waiting line as well.

I really enjoy this small little bakery that you can find in Edgewater Public Market that serves pastries, croissants, and coffee items. The parking lot is a good size and I didn’t have a hard time finding a spot and luckily in the front, but of course this was a little later in the morning, so I most likely beat the rush. I wish I stayed longer in the area to try more pastries both savory and sweet, but I enjoy what I was able to try. I grabbed an iced beverage and one sweet and savory item to eat. The first was their sausage roll which I did enjoy but was a little bit more on the saltier side, but the croissant helped balance it out. I also had their raspberry croissant/ muffin, cruffin. And it was delightful. I thought it would be dry, but the croissant was of course delicious and flakey and filled with a thick raspberry flavored cream. The staff here is efficient, and the waiting time was minimal, but again I’m sure on busier days, I am sure there would be a longer line than the one I waited in. I would come back again.

Love this bakery in Edgewater Market place. Go here often to meet people for a cup of coffee and a pastry or to just pick up a fresh baked loaf of Sourdough or baguette. If you pre order you can pick up at the window outside. Otherwise go inside . There is plenty of seating. The staff is always excellent

Take-away only bakery located inside Edgewater Market, they specialize in laminated pastries and unique flavors. The pastries are well balanced: flaky, not too buttery to the point of greasy, and not too sweet. Expect a messy eating experience! The Cheesy Leek Breki is a breakfast pastry filled with mashed potatoes and topped with cheese and leeks, while the Nutella Mothership is structured pastry with Nutella cubes on top and glazed swirl on the bottom. Both were very done well!
They offer the standard coffee drinks but also unique house drinks, Astro Fuel and Mothership Latte. Tried the Astro Fuel, which incorporates espresso shots with sweet & salty condensed milk and black pepper-steeped milk. Certainly unique and maybe a bit too adventurous, the hot version suffers from the milk overshadowing other flavors.

We are Black Box enthusiasts who frequent often on our own – most recently, we hired them for our wedding dessert and Arielle and the baking team were so helpful in making our dreams a reality! We had mini strawberry croissants and apple mascarpone mini cubes for our guests – let’s just say everyone was RAVING about the unique desserts and could not get enough. The cubes are honestly one of the most creative croissants I have ever had and they would rival any croissant in France. You guys are the BEST bakery in the entire nation, hands down, it’s one of the reasons we moved to CO from the east coast 😉 THANK YOU Black Box for being just an incredible operation, we love you so much!! <3 Lauren + Andre

I tried ordering the evening before, but their store must have to be opened to order anything since everything was pretty much sold out. Stopped by Tuesday morning around 10am and I love their table with all the pastries displayed! Tried the following:
— Pride Croissant – earl grey with fruity pebbles (they said it was like a cereal milk and they were right!)
— Pink Pony cube croissant – wow. So good filled with elderflower English cream and strawberry jam
— Strawberry Milk Croissant – got this frozen since it was the only item of the 3 that could be brought like this (there were also others that could be purchased frozen). Appreciated they vacuum sealed the croissant and they gave a massive pastry pipping bag of the filling, but unfortunately, I had to toss the filling bag going through airport security

The bakery is open until 1pm only so the time is somewhat inconvenient in my opinion. The pastries and drinks are delicious and they have good variety. The service was great.

An update 9 months later:
Still the strawberry croissant is my favorite, and its fair to say the best on the menu. The others look really appealing but taste wise none of ones I tried had the wow factor. Vanilla latte was very good.
Old review:
Nice lovely bakeries. I’ve tried 4 flavors, some were better than others. The best one for me was the strawberry croissant: it strikes the right balance between crunch, sweetness and filling. The carrot cake mini cube was my 2nd favorite. Eat it on the same day cuz it will become soggy the next day (that’s what happened with me). I was expecting a stronger pistachio flavor in the pistachio croissant, especially in the filling.
The cinnamon roll was very very sweet. I liked the coating but there was a sauce in the bottom that made the roll too sweet.

Absolutely the best bakery in the entire Denver metro area! Every time I visit, I’m blown away by the amazing selection from the pastries to the breads. You truly can’t go wrong with anything they make. Everything tastes fresh, crafted with care, and full of flavor. The staff is always warm and welcoming, and you can tell they genuinely love what they do. Whether you’re grabbing a quick treat, picking up something for a special occasion, or just exploring new favorites, this place never disappoints. I highly recommend everyone give it a try. Once you do, you’ll understand why it’s my go-to bakery and easily the best in Denver!
