Re-established in September 2022 by Executive Chef & Pitmaster Joe Rodriguez and Melissa Garza, Black Board Bar B Q sits 18 minutes south of Historic Luckenbach and 15 minutes north of Boerne, TX. BBQ enthusiasts, don’t miss our mouth-watering smoked meats, house-ground sausages, unique sides, and homemade desserts. Some people just need a long country drive through the beautiful hill country and some good bbq to refresh their soul, I sure need it, and Black Board bbq is just that!
We pulled into the drive and right away you’ll get that country feeling. There is plenty of outdoor seating with some of it under the covered porch. This is perfect for us because we bring our dogs with us.
Inside I placed my order and everyone was very helpful and kind. They really treated me like a welcomed guest. I had a chance to thank the owners for their amazing bbq, they are amazing people, the whole team is great!
I had the poblano burger and let me tell you!!!…hands down the best brisket burger I’ve ever tasted. Now let me just say this, I live close to Leroy & Lewis and I’ve had their brisket burger and it’s great! But Black Board just blew them out of the water.
I also loved their homemade lemonade, cheesecake, and fries. After eating the burger I didn’t have room in my belly to try anything else
I highly recommend Black Board to anyone! And we will be coming back for more!

We love going to BBQ restaurants with the family. Experiencing different styles of barbecue can be a delicious adventure. We have visited several listed in Texas Monthly Magazine. It’s always fun to try new places and see what everyone’s raving about. This weekend, we visited Black Board Bar B Q in Sisterdale. It was awesome! The food was incredible, and the service was top-notch. We got there in the afternoon, and they had sold out of brisket, but the ribs, turkey, chicken, fried chicken, and sausage were all fantastic. The sides were all fresh and delicious too. We tried five different sides, and the cornbread was to die for! The restaurant has plenty of parking. Inside and outside dining is available. There is nice grassy area outside where the kids can play and run around. The whole atmosphere is friendly and inviting. I am looking forward to our next visit.

Went for a drive in hill country and stopped by Black Board BarBQ. Restored my faith in texas bbq. Tried the moist brisket ribs and burnt ends. All fantastic. (Btw.. first time I have seen burnt ends on a menu in San Antonio area and these are better than what I usually get in KC. sorry jack stacks!) Cole slaw and elite Mac was deligh. House made sause was just right Small line but moved quick. Most seem to order ahead, even if eating there. We will go back!

I really think this is the best BBQ I’ve had in Texas. The flavor and portions were so good. I can’t wait to come back. We sat inside and the flies were a pest but an employee came over and brought a fly fan and that solved it. Great service! Recommend the lean brisket, jalapeño cheddar sauce and truffle fries!

As a self proclaimed BBQ snob, having grown up around Kreutz, Lockhart BBQ, (which I might add is the best in the State Of Texas), I was super excited to try Black Board BBQ. I met Marco at an event in Center Point, TX and he mentioned this amazing BBQ place in Sisterdale. My hubby and I took the drive from Kerrville to try out the BBQ and were VERY happy we did. The atmosphere, staff and BBQ did not disappoint!! I have to say that the BBQ bark was perfectly seasoned, the meat was juicy and tender and their sides were amazing!! My hubby got their jalapeño sausage and said it was delicious!! I got their burnt ends and garlic truffle fries. I have 2 words for you….. EAT HERE!!! #MeatSweats #BBQ #Texas

Listen up folks, Im sure the word is out on Black Board Bar B Q, so IYKYK! I had lunch for the first time, I had gotten good reviews but boy was I surprised. I ordered the 2 meat plate, moist brisket and turkey ( both meats were perfectly flavored, like wow, wow and woweee), with a side of some of the best mac and cheese I’ve ever eaten, charro beans and complimentary side of pickles, red onions and pickled jalapeños. Oh man , oh man, If you haven’t tried this place, we’ll don’t sleep on it, in my opinion it should be in the top 5 in Texas. Oh yes, I will be back for the Ribs, I was told I missed out on one of the most requested items there, their delicious ribs. The owner personally came out and gave me more napkins, a fly helicopter and made sure I was well taken care of. Waitstaff was wonderful as well and the service made me feel like I was royalty. So , get there before Texas Monthly puts them on the List!! You will love it as much as I did

I went there ’cause I saw some tacos on TikTok. The cashier said they only serve certain foods on certain days with no set schedule, which is kinda annoying when you gotta drive an hour to get there. Yeah, I know I could’ve called, but with BBQ places, they sometimes run out, so it’s better to get there early.
Besides the random menu, the food was awesome. I also wish they could change the portion sizes; it’s either half a pound or a whole pound. I wanted to try different meats, but they don’t do quarter portions.
