In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. Enjoy your meal in our family-friendly, cabin-themed diner with our welcoming staff or order to enjoy in the comfort of your home.

Stopped at Black Bear Diner in Salt Lake City while visiting from Alaska and on my way to the airport. The place was super clean, the service was fast and friendly, and the food was delicious! Everything came out hot and fresh, and everyone was so welcoming. Definitely a great stop before catching a flight — I’ll be back next time I’m in town!

I order from here quite a bit and the food is okay for the most part but tonight I got the pot roast which I have gotten a few times before but tonight’s, omg it was soooo goood and my salad for the first time was done really good too. Whoever ever the cook is tonight, you all need them full time and he should get a raise. Seriously, one of the best pot roast I ever had and for the first time ever, great presentation, I was shocked to say the lease.

As always, Black Bear Diner is amazing. This was the first time I’ve come to the West Valley location, and along with the rest of the locations, it lived up to its reputation.
Portions are always large, so if you can’t handle a giant plate of more than you need, try to order a little smaller. Prices may seem a little higher than you’d expect, but you always get more than you paid for, and for a great quality. Expect to pay about $20-25 per adult, including tax and tip.
I came here on a Saturday morning, and it was about half full, as expected during its peak time. Trisha was a great waitress, and quickly attended to me when she found out she gave me the wrong check.
If you’re expecting the signature food and atmosphere of a Black Bear Diner, you can find it here.

First of all THANK YOU for being a Pepsi establishment! This lil diner helped me in a pinch and I wasn’t expecting to go back – but I did. I got into town late and this was my 1st stop. Great dinner with big portions (thank you for the leftovers!). The staff was as quick as the kitchen allowed and the menu was ADORABLE (like a newspaper). My schedule allowed several visits to cover breakfast, lunch and/or dinner. For me personally, always plenty of seating and easy parking (huge lot). Would recommend if you’re in the area and was something good, but simple. VERY convenient to the area too.

Went for breakfast, waitress was short on attention and when she checked us out she used a hand held device. We are in our 80’s. And had no idea how that works. The bill was $32.00. Didn’t get a receipt and the payment on my bank account was $72.00.
Will never go there again! She gave herself a big fat tip. For lousy service and the food was not very good.

Me and my buddy went there Saturday morning it was his first time and I really talked the place up but he won’t ever go back and I don’t think I will we order at the same time but he got part of his breakfast and I got nothing he was almost done with it when he got his hash browns i still haven’t gotten any of my food about 10 minutes later the waitress finally remembered she forgot to put my order in my buddy was done with his by the time I got part of my order (Been sitting here for 50 minutes at this point) I was about half way done with mine by the time I got my toast (still haven’t received my milk asked 4 times already) finally got my milk about 10 minutes after I finished my breakfast (been there 1.45 hours) when I get my check no discount $$ so when I went to pay they didn’t seem to have a problem with the total asked for management and they only took off the milk??? Extremely disappointing and after being a pretty good customer I won’t be going back Sara it’s telling me that the web address you sent me don’t exist

I dinned at 12:00pm. The hostess made us wait and was very rude. She was unprofessional and stated things like “I’m going to start holding tables so we don’t have to work all the way through to the end of our shift” right in front of me. Then proceeded to make me and my partner wait 20 minutes when we saw so many tables open. The ONLY saving grace was our server, I don’t remember her exact name, Trish/Trisha the older server. She was so patient and kind with our service. Truly one of the kindest people I have ever met. If I ever go back, it will be for her.

Ordered chicken fried steak to go and was very disappointed to find out that it was not even a steak but ground beef fried in breading. Red skin potatoes also tasted like instant mash potatoes. Couldn’t even finish it. Waste of money 🙁

To begin, our waitress was very attentive, friendly, and answered our questions about the menu honestly. We appreciated that. She was trining another waitress and they were both smiling and seemed happy to be there. My husband was hesitant to go, as he had been to another Black Abear Dinerr and wasn’t impressed but we were so hungry so he agreed. He was glad he did! We were both very happy with our food. It was excellent. Definitely recommend.

My wife and I dinner here tonight. Rhiannon was our server. She is good, as always checking in to see if we needed anything and very nice. The whole was nice, worked great together. It was a slow night, but it didn’t effect the service. The restaurant was very clean, and looked good. We have seen our share of BBD. #71
