In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. We love the St. George location … Tried Washington for the first time and wasn’t impressed. My meat on my omelette was over cooked. Fries in kids meal were cold and old. We had two grizz omelettes. They only gave a small triangle of ham instead of a slab. The sausages were slightly undercooked and mushy. The pancakes came out at three separate times and not warm at all for the waiting…. One set of pancakes came when we were all done eating and cold they were cold. Everything was great for the chicken fried steak meal.
Server was nice and didn’t refill drinks…or bring all the items like butter for the meals…. Very disappointed in this location…

Great dinner. Pot roast with carrots, onions, celery and potatoes. Mashed potatoes with gravy. Caesar salad and fresh fruit. Big chicken- fried steak with mashed potatoes and garlic parm toast. Clam chowder and a side of onion rings. Huge portion a lot of this us going home with us.
Staff was friendly and welcoming and the restaurant was super clean.

Great place for a hardy breakfast. Huge portions! The biscuit was the size of my head and so soft and fluffy. Our waitress was amazing and super helpful and friendly. The restaurant itself could use an upgrade. Has a “Grandma’s cabin” feel to it. Definitely stop by if your feeding a crew everyone will leave with very full belly’s!

Lovely place, great service, but food was subpar at best. My burger was very dry and bland, and super hard to swallow. Didn’t care for the prime rib my wife ordered. Kids meals looked pretty lame. Price is really good, but would gladly pay more for better tasting food. Waitress was very kind. Maybe it was an off day for them as I heard others say the food was good so I will gladly try again, just not their burgers.

The the atmosphere is good we got some good music we got some good menus and the menu is even old school it looks like news paper this restaurant is old school and we even get some good coloring crayons and menu to write on the food arrived fast and this food looks good I got the avocado sandwich and u get alot the fries are also good and the avocado sandwich was the best part y’all I’m telling y’all gotta try that and the sweet tea with that best combo today came here after a huge hike and now Im full

Fantastic food. This was our first visit ever. Recently moved here and everything we ordered was fantastic. The service?!?!? Even better!! Raymundo was probably the best serverxwe have ever had. I help run a resort nearby and I tried to steal him away but he said he loved his job. What a spectacular server and great guy. Such a hardworking! Desserts were fabulous too! We will be back soon! Side note, the chocolate cream pie was 5 stars and so was the meatloaf!!!

We had a great experience at Black Bear Diner, mostly because of our server, Ms Julie. She was super sweet and welcoming right from the start and made us feel comfortable the whole time we were there.
Ms. Julie checked on us often, kept our drinks filled, and made sure everything came out right. Service was quick, but we never felt rushed. She had a great attitude and was genuinely friendly, not forced or scripted, which really makes a difference.
You can tell she cares about what she does and about the people she’s serving. She definitely made our visit better, and we’d love to have her as our server again. Black Bear Diner is lucky to have her!

I just wanted to get on here and make sure that the manager knows how great of a job they are doing and that the staff they have chosen are wonderful. Of course the food is always the absolute best and always always exceeds expectations, but I am a cna/caregiver and bring my clients who may have different kinds of mental or physical needs HERE because I knowwww the servers will be kind and patient and understanding if they need to ask something more then once or forget what they ordered. I know I can bring them here for a calmer safe place to get out and eat something we know they will like. Thank you for making a safe haven for everyone, it means more then you can know.
